Jacksonville Sharks Attack Dance Team

Part two of my trip to Florida took me to Jacksonville to see the Sharks Attack Dance Team.

The Attack Dance Team is under the the direction of Kimberly Newbern. Kimberly was a competitive cheerleader for 10 years and won over thirty State and National titles in partner stunting, individuals and quads. She was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars ROAR from 2003-2006 where she was honored to tour Greenland and perform for our troops. Kimberly was also featured in the ROAR Calendar in 2004 and 2005. She was cast in the movie Bring It On: In It To Win It as a Shark and Shet dancer. She also owns and is the head coach for the First Class Athletics All-Stars and enjoys developing young talent each day.

Prior the game fans had a chance to get autographs from the dancers. Here’s April with the Dance Team Calendar.

Here’s former Jacksonville Axe Maiden Amy. The dancers performed in the corner until the team advanced far enough down the field. Then it was out into the end zone….

sharks032
Or maybe not. The Dancers were in the end zone for one down maybe two and then the referee ordered them (and me!) off the field. The boos from the fans were quite loud when this happened.

It was great to see long-time friend of the Jill. Jill was a member of the Jacksonville ROAR and represented her squad at the 2005 Pro Bowl. She thought she had hung up the poms for good, but couldn’t pass up a chance to cheer once more. Jill earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. She’s excited about the new job she just started with a national retailer that uses a bulls eye for its logo. But she’s even more excited about getting married later this month and then jetting off to the Turks & Caicos for her honeymoon. Congratulations, Jill!

Bryn and Joshlyn dressed up for the big halftime performance.

I already mentioned in the photo of the weekend that the halftime performance was to Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher.” School desks and chairs were brought as props. The dancers dressed as school girls. And the star of the performance was Bri (Brianna) who played the teacher.

As you can see, Bri was absolutely dazzling and stunning in her performance.

sharks053
Bri started cheering in middle school, but she’s entirely self-taught as a dancer. She works full-time at bank, but more importantly she’s the mother of a two-year old son. She says her life is “work, mom and dance” with little time for anything else.

Relaxing in the locker room after the game, or in Lauren’s case she’s literally in the locker.
