voodoo3The New Orleans VooDoo will be holding preliminary auditions for the 2011 New Orleans VooDoo Doll Dance Team on November 7th, 2010 at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans. The New Orleans VooDoo are returning to the New Orleans Arena for the 2011 Arena Football League (AFL) season and are seeking 16-20 young women to represent the team as its premier dance team, the VooDoo Dolls.

The VooDoo Dolls will be under the direction of Rachel Vicknair, who is a former VooDoo Doll and a former NBA cheerleader, and who was with the VooDoo from its inception in 2004 until its last year of play in 2008. “I am extremely excited to be a part of the VooDoo’s return to New Orleans and to bring back one of the most exciting elements of the game, the VooDoo Dolls,” says Vicknair. “The fans have shown so much support and enthusiasm since the announcement of the VooDoo’s return, and I am looking forward to putting together a group of beautiful, talented, outgoing young women to energize the crowd and give fans a game day experience like no other!”

The VooDoo Doll Audition process begins with optional Prep Classes being held on October 28th, November 2nd and 3rd from 7pm-9pm at the Galleria Fitness Center in Metairie. These optional prep classes are designed to give participants a sneak peak of the choreography as well give them an opportunity to ask any last minute questions in preparation for auditions. The Preliminary Auditions will be held Sunday, November 7th, 2010 with preliminary auditions at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans. By the end of preliminary auditions, approximately 30 finalists will be chosen and will be required to complete an interview with VooDoo staff members over the preceding two weeks.

The 30 finalists will then compete in front of a live audience at the VooDoo Doll Finals on Saturday, November 20th, 2010 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. also at Mardi Gras World in the River City Ballroom. “We want to see how the ladies perform in front of a crowd as well as give fans a sneak peak of what to expect for the 2011 season,” Vicknair says. The VooDoo Dolls will consist of 16-20 members who will perform at the nine VooDoo home games as well as various promotional and community events throughout the season.
