The Saturday before last I was at DC’s Verizon Center to cover the Bullettes/Wizard Dancers/Wizard Girls Alumni performance. But I also managed a few shots of the current Wizard Girls as well.

Saturday, January 16th the Washington Wizards hosted the Sacrament Kings and four decades of dancers rocked the house at the Verizon Center.

It was kind of a hectic night for Wizards Girls Director and good friend of the blog Jessica Pikulski. Jessica’s two fabulous assistant directors were not present. Kelly was having her baby shower; Brianne was on a ski trip. So Jessica had her normal game day responsibilities, plus getting the Alumni ready, and her adorable, almost 18-month-old-son was in the tunnel, so she had to keep an eye on him.

Bullettes from the 70s and 80s and early 90s, Wizards Dancers from the late 90s and the 00s and Wizard Girls from last season all rocked the house at half-time.

Vikhy now runs the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Ambassadors program.

Heather is in South Florida this week representing the Redskins Cheerleaders at the 2010 Pro Bowl.

Diane’s a former Bullette and University of Maryland Cheerleader and a grandmother!

After the halftime performance, alumni had to shake their poms one last time in the corners as the cheered on the Wizards and the fans.

It worked. The Wizards defeated the Kings 96-86.

Washington Redskins Cheerleader Heather has been a good friend of the blog for as long as we’ve been around, so we’re really excited to announce that was she was voted by her fellow teammates to represent the Redskins Cheerleaders at the 2010 Pro Bowl in Miami.

Heather is a 6-year veteran and second-year captain on the team. After graduating from George Mason University with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Dance, she went on to cheer for the NBA’s Washington Wizards for two seasons.

She works as a consultant and engineer for the Department of Defense.

Yesterday, I posted that the Rocky Mountain RockStarz had auditioned for America’s Best Dance Crew Season 5 and incorrectly identified the group as former Nuggets Dancers.

I’ve got the straight scoop today along with a pair of never-before-seen photos of the RockStarz.

Founded by Kristin Engler Brooks in 2007, the Rocky Mountain RockStarz is an elite group of former professional cheerleaders and dancers with credentials including the Los Angeles Lakers, St. Louis Rams, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Kansas City Chiefs and many other teams.

RockStarz is a performance group that maintains their remarkable dance style through exclusive performances. As professional dancers, RockStarz share their talent through youth dance clinics, seminars, performing and other community service. Community outreach is the RockStarz number one commitment.

The Rocky Mountain RockStarz are committed to helping various local and national charity organizations. Whether it is running a dance clinic, giving motivational speeches, encouraging fitness/healthy lifestyle, or performing, the RockStarz leave a lasting impression on those they work with.
The RockStarz are currently co-directed between Megan Savage, a highly accredited dancer/performer, and Kristin Engler Brooks (”KE”). Sarah Schachterle (“Shack”) is the official choreographer for the RockStarz. Shack is one of the leading choreographers in the industry and has been working with the RockStarz for the last three seasons.

Friday night the Washington Wizard Girls unveiled their ǘber-hot 2009-10 Swimsuit Calendar. The calendar was shot on location in the British Virgin Islands making the Wizard Girls the first NBA squad to shoot their calendar outside the USA.

The event was held at the swanky Liason Capitol Hill. I took a half day at my boring day job to ensure that I wouldn’t miss a moment. Wizard Girl Director Jessica Pikulski even allowed me in to cover part of the rehearsal.

The planning for the party, the catering, the music, the sponsors, was all put together by Four-year captain Teneii. And she did a fabulous job.

Friends turned out and there were load of picture taking opportunities.

Wizard Girl Jessica and Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader Amanda became good friends while attending Towson University.

The party featured several Wizard Girl performances. The dancers also took to the runway modeling evening wear and swimsuits.
