Wizard Girls Auditions: Part Five

After the bikini and uniform photo shoots, the hopefuls put on their audition outfits. Sunday afternoon the dancers would learn sideline routines taught by Wizard Girl Alumni. For the final audition they would perform not only the sideline routines, but the two routines taught on Saturday.

Alumni Heather (Redskins Pro Bowl Cheerleader) and Natalie (SD Charger Girl) taught some of the sideline routines.

Michelle is graduate of James Madison University where she earned her degree in dietetics. She works for the Center for Eating Disorders and cheered for the Baltimore Blast and Baltimore Mariners this past season.

Cheerleader Heaven - The 2010 P-R-O Convention (Part II)

The P-R-O Convention is the premier professional cheerleading and dance convention. Held annually in Atlanta, Georgia, P-R-O features instructors from NFL, NBA, MLS, and the WPFL. Professional cheerleading squads and dance teams came from all over the country to attend the two day event.

The staff of All-Pro3 gave James and I complete access to the convention’s events. In the second part of my article, we continue our coverage of P-R-O with a report on Sunday’s events.

Washington Wizard Girl Auditions: Part Four

After a very long Saturday at the Verizon Center and three round of cuts, thirty-seven Wizard Girls finalists remained. Sunday would begin with a photo shoot of the hopefuls in bikinis and the Wizard Girl Uniform.

Just one problem. The photographer wasn’t there!

So Wizard Girl Director Jessica Pikulsi asked me to fill in. I’m always willing to help, so I said “Yes”, but i was extremely nervous.

Normally I shoot a ton of photos and then pick out the best of the best. But here the girls would get only one shot. And I couldn’t advise or make suggestions on the pose. This was all part of the audition process.

Later in the hallway, I had a mini-debate with some of the ladies. The topic was “Who was more nervous?”. They had to pose in their skimpiest swimwear in front of a panel of judges. But I was so nervous I was sweating and shaking.

In the end most of my photos came out okay.

Cheerleader Heaven: The 2010 P-R-O Convention (Part I)

There’s a reason why its called Hotlanta and its not because of the weather. Last weekend, more than 200 professional cheerleaders and dancers from across the country gathered in Atlanta for All Pro3’s 7th annual P-R-O convention, or as I call it Cheerleader Heaven. Hot weather, hot cheerleaders and hot dance routines.

The P-R-O Convention is the premier professional dance convention and the instructors represent the very best in professional cheerleading and dance. This year’s instructors included:
