Ultimate Cheerleaders

The Jaguars are a little tardy in updating their website with ROAR photos and have only recently upload Week 4 photos.  It’s Week 6.  So, let’s not waste any time and get to the photos .  Click here to view the Jaguars Week 4 photos.

This past weekend, the Battle for Texas was renewed between the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans.  The story line coming into this game was that of two teams desperately needing a win…not for bragging rights, but to stay in contention for a post season birth.  Another loss and well…you could kiss those aspirations good bye, so this game was doubly important.

In a low scoring affair, the Texans defense exposed the shortcomings of the Cowboys offense, namely a lack of play makers in the passing game.  Dak Prescott was held to 208 passing yards and one TD, while star running back Ezekiel Elliot was limited to 54 yards on 20 carries.  In contrast, the Texans were led by their QB, Deshaun Watson, who passed for 375 yards and one TD.  If Watson was unable to put it in the end zone often, he was able to lead the Texans on five drives that ended with field goals and that was the difference in the game.  Texans win, 19 – 16.

In celebration of the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative, the Houston Texans Cheerleaders wore uniforms with pink accents and paired the look with matching pink lipstick.  If you would like to see the Texans Cheerleaders game day gallery, click here.

In Week 5 of the NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams played the Seattle Seahawks in another important game, divisional match up between the two favorites to win the NFC West.  This season, the Seahawks have gotten off to a rather slow start and needed a win to stay in touch with the division leading Rams, who entered the game with an unblemished record.

On paper, this should have been a blow out win for the Rams who have both a dominant offense and defense, but things have a strange way of working out.  In the first half, the Rams lost their top two receivers to concussions and their defense was a little porous than normal.  Perhaps the absence of cornerback Aqib Talib opened things up for the Seahawks, who were able to take a seven point lead into the fourth quarter.  But in the final frame, the Rams mounted a come back and scored nine points to earn the victory.  Final score: Rams – 33, Seahawks – 31.

With the game recap out of the way, we turn our attention to the reason why we are all here…the lovely Seattle Sea Gals.  My compliments to them for braving the cold and rain and giving it their all in support the Seahawks.  Click here to view the game day gallery of images.

Whenever the Raiders come to town, its a big deal for the Chargers.  The Raiders are a long time division rival who are also in state division rivals, so that’s doubly special.  When I was a Chargers season ticket holder, the Raiders game was always special.  The games were electric and there was a circus like atmosphere with all those passionate Raiders fans dressed up their colorful outfits.  It was a game that always had a special meaning even if those games weren’t always the most competitive.

It’s a rebuilding year for the Raiders and quite the opposite for the Chargers, who are one of the favorites to win the AFC West this year.  So it should come as no surprise that the Chargers rather easily handled the boys in silver and black.  The Chargers stormed out to a 17 – 3 half time lead and coasted to victory on the strength of Philip Rivers, who passed for 339 yards and two TDs.  Final Score: Chargers – 26, Raiders – 10.

It was big game week in Detroit with the division rival Green Bay Packers coming into town.  Division games are always important, particularly early in the season when things can go off the rails with a loss.  The thought was that a one legged Aaron Rodgers would be an easier path to victory, but even with a knee injury, Rodgers shredded the Lions defense to the tune of 442 passing yards and three TDs.  And things could have been worse if not for four missed field goals by Mason Crosby.  Fortunately for the Lions, they have a pretty good offense too.  Mathew Stafford passed for two TDs and LeGarrette Blount rushed for two TDs to hold off the Packers, 31 – 23.

In Detroit, it was the week to celebrate the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative to fight against cancer.  In years past, the NFL was committed to highlighting breast cancer awareness in the month of October, but their efforts have been expanded to combat all forms of cancers.  In honor of this effort, the Detroit Lions Cheerleaders wore special pink colored uniforms.  Click here to view the Lions game day gallery.
