Parking for Preliminary Auditions:
$3 parking available at the UH Welcome Center/Parking Garage on the corner of University Drive and Calhoun Road or FREE parking available across from the UH Recreation & Wellness Center in Parking Lots 20A and 20C (1 block walk from UH Student Center South)
Audition Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older and a high school graduate by September 1, 2018 (valid I.D. required on the day of auditions)
- Must be a full-time college student and/or hold a full-time job
- Complete audition application, release form and provide professional/dance resume
- Must provide non-returnable current color headshot and full body photo
- Must be able to attend Rockets home games & all evening rehearsals 2-3 times a week
- Must be able to attend a certain number of appearances & other related Rockets events/activities
- If selected to the team, a one-year contract and commitment are required
- Drug test screening and background check are required of audition finalists
- Walk ups day of auditions are welcomed!
Attire:
- Two-piece dance ensemble (must be fitted, no pants & must show midriff)
- Shoe of preference with non-marking soles
- Flesh tone pantyhose or dance tights
- Performance ready hair and make-up
What are we looking for?
- Professionalism
- Confidence, personality, showmanship, energy and enthusiasm
- Dancers who are well spoken and can represent the Houston Rockets and RPD in a professional manner on and off the court
- Ability to pick up dance choreography quickly

Audition process on Saturday, June 30, 2018
- Open auditions are closed to the public, family and friends
- Preliminary auditions will consist of a series of 2-3 eliminations that will include: stylized choreography and hip-hop
- We recommend that you bring food and drink to keep your energy up and hydrated between rounds
- Candidates will be judged on appearance, dance ability, style, strength and completion of choreography, energy, projection, potential, personality and attitude
- Finalists will be announced at the end of the day
- The Houston Rockets can make changes at their sole discretion in the best interest of the Houston Rockets Power Dancers throughout the entire audition process.

Detroit Pistons Dancer Auditions
Date and time: Saturday, June 30th at 9:00AM & Sunday, July 1st at 10:00AM at the Pistons Practice Facility in Auburn Hills

Saturday, June 23rd at Barclays Center
Doors open at 10:00am; Audition begins promptly at 11:00am
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 or older and have extensive training in hip hop and jazz styles. Tumbling skills are a plus, but not required.
- Wear two-piece attire and non-marking sneakers. Midriff and legs must be exposed; no tights. Arrive in glamorous, performance-ready hair and makeup.
- Select dancers from the open call will be invited to attend callback auditions on Sunday, June 24.
- Finalists must be available the evenings of June 25 and June 26.
- Special Guest Judges will be in attendance throughout the week including a celebrity choreographer Chuck Smith and Bloc Talent Agency’s Fatima Wilson.

This audition is closed to the public. Only audition candidates will be admitted.
Pre-registration: Pre-registration will begin on Wednesday, June 20th and will close at 4:00pm on Thursday, July 5th.
TRAINING CAMP: Dancers who make the final cut on July 8th need to be available from Monday, July 9th through Friday, July 13th from approximately 6:00pm – 11:00pm. Finalists will participate in a dancer training camp. The final team will be selected on Friday, July 13th.
REQUIRED ATTIRE: A two-piece form-fitting outfit is mandatory. NO BAGGY CLOTHES. Please wear FULL performance makeup. Dance or athletic shoes with non-marking soles (ABSOLUTELY NO HEELS, NO COMBAT BOOTS, AND NO SHOES WITH MARKING SOLES).
REQUIREMENTS:
- All dancers must be at least 18 years of age by July 8th.
- All dancers must bring a government issued ID, a dance or professional resume, and 5″x7″ head shot (not returnable).
- All dancers must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- All dancers must have flexible evening schedules for rehearsals, games, and appearances during the season.
- All dance team members for 2018-19 season will be required to attend several community/charity appearances.
- All dance team members must have their own reliable transportation to attend games, rehearsals, and appearances.
- At least 2 years dance training is recommended.
Audition candidates who attend any of our pre-audition clinics or workshops may be selected to skip the first round of cuts on July 8th. Details will be given during the clinics and workshops. Audition candidates selected to skip the first round will still be required to arrive before registration closes on the day of the audition.
PRE-AUDITION WORKSHOPS:
We will hold audition workshops on Saturday, May 26th; Sunday, July 1st; and Saturday, July 7th. The workshops are intensive sessions that feature a mock audition. Come looking your best! Each participant is asked come with full performance hair and make-up as well as a 2 piece form-fitting audition outfit (sneakers) to get individual feedback from the HEAT Dancer Manager on appearance and performance.
These workshops are optional, but are an excellent want to get an idea of what audition day will be like. Don’t forget to bring a towel, water bottle, work-out sneakers, and small snacks. Also bring a list of questions you may have.

- Learn choreography at audition speed.
- A mock up audition with rounds similar to the actual audition.
- Receive individual feedback on your performance, audition outfit, and appearance from the HEAT Dance Team Manager
- Receive Audition tips from the HEAT Dancer Manager and current HEAT Dancers

These classes focus on teaching the HEAT Dancers’ style of choreograph and working on technique. They are optional and are designed to familiarize you with the type of choreography that will be taught at auditions.

- Q &A with current squad members
- Receive tips on how to physically prepare for auditions from the HEAT Dancer trainer.
- Learn what it takes to become a Miami HEAT Dancer
