The Ladies of Ontario Fury held their auditions for the 2015 dance team this past Saturday and I was very interested in the outcome. You see, the Ladies of Ontario Fury have become one of my most beloved squads to shoot and under the direction of Lynae de Leon, they always seem to have some girls that are “next level” cheerleaders. This past season, two girls made NBA squads (the Laker Girls and the Golden State Warriors) and another Fury dancer was a finalist for the Phoenix Suns.
So every year, I eagerly await auditions to see who are the returning veterans and who are the potential newcomers to this squad. And this year, there are several openings for newcomers as only nine veterans were trying out again. With nearly 50 girls trying out, the competition for one of the 16 spots would be the most competitive in the three year history of the team
If you are an aspiring dancer in the Southern California area, The Ladies of Ontario Fury dance team is holding auditions for their 2015-2016 squad this Saturday. The Ladies of Ontario Fury perform at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in support of the Ontario Fury and under the tutelage of Director Lynae de Leon, former dancers have gone on to cheer for the San Diego Chargers, Clippers Spirit, and the Laker Girls.

NFL football is back! And its better than ever…okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration…okay, that’s more than a bit of exaggeration. But hey, it’s football…preseason football…but football nonetheless. And if you are like me, tired of watching the glacial paced Major League Baseball, preseason NFL football is a god send. Why? Because MLB doesn’t have cheerleaders…at least not like the NFL.
I do like watching preseason football. Not because it is good, per se, but because I play fantasy football and I am always trying to glean some tidbit of information on up and coming players or some sort of intelligence on new coaches with new schemes in new places. For example, many years ago, I was intrigued at the prospects of a young and talented running back from the University of Tennessee, named Arian Foster. He was an undrafted free agent and definitely under the radar, but after watching a preseason game in which he rushed for a touchdown and had another one called back, he was a player to watch. And when draft day came around, I selected him and rode him to a fantasy football championship. He has been a productive player for several years, before injuries ravaged his hamstrings and groin.
So what did I learn this past weekend when the Dallas Cowboys came to visit the San Diego Chargers…not a damn thing. There wasn’t much passing. There wasn’t much rushing. There wasn’t much quality football played. And what did I learn about Tony Romo or Joseph Randle? Nothing because they didn’t play. Or what about highly touted Charger rookie Melvin Gordon? Not much from his six carry, eleven yard performance.
The starters played only one or two series, if they played at all, and the rest of the game was relegated to scrubs and guys who won’t even make the 53 man roster. Heck the Cowboys even played Lache Seastrunk…Lache Seastrunk? The last time I read about him was when he left the University of Oregon in a cloud of mystery surrounding his recruitment. That’s how bad it was.
But quality football was not the reason why I drove 120 miles to San Diego. No. It was to scout out a different sort of fantasy football team…the Charger Girls. And they did not disappoint. So let’s take our first look at the 2015 Charger Girls and we begin with the Captains: Tawnie, Kayla, Katelyn, Tina.
This year many of my favorite Charger Girls from years past retired, but there was one special girl who returned for her third year and she happens to be our first Charger Girl of the Day for 2015…introducing Shelbi.
Little known fact about Shelbi – she was crowned third runner up in this year’s Miss California USA pageant!

Whew! We have finally reached the end of a long journey to identify and highlight those special girls who attended the 2015 P-R-O Convention. To be sure there were many more girls that I would have liked to feature, but scheduling and time constraints prevented me from visiting each squad as much as I would have liked to, but you can snag only so many girls during the brief breaks in the action.

They say that honey bees are in decline to colony collapse syndrome, but that is certainly not the case in Charlotte! I can report that the Honey Bees are alive and doing well in the Tar Heel state…at least the two legged kind. Our next honoree is a second year veteran and another one of those amazing Charlotte Honey Bees…introducing Katie, our next 2015 P-R-O Convention All Star.
We are down to our last All Star for 2015…I simply ran out of time in Atlanta…see who is our final honoree.
Our cavalcade of Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders/P-R-O Convention honorees continues with a six year member of the MVC…introducing Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader Karen, our next 2015 P-R-O Convention All Star.
Only a couple more left before we conclude our coverage of the 2015 P-R-O Convention in Atlanta…see who is next!
A little birdie told me that our next honoree is a former member of the First Ladies of Football…okay that birdie was James, my publisher and he ought to know. Well she is the second person to relocate from the D.C. Metroplex to Nashville and become a Tennessee Titans Cheerleader this year…introducing Jessica our next 2015 P-R-O Convention All Star!
Jessica has got this posing thing down pat!
Jessica is another reason to get out to a Titans game…her and Marcus Mariota!
The most impressive squad at P-R-O was the Charlotte Honey Bees. They were all very attractive and they were all interesting subjects to shoot, whether it was for their dance ability, their good looks, or that part of their personality that can be captured in a still image. Each and every one of them was a pleasure to shoot and as I have said before, my only regret was that I didn’t get to shoot all of them. They were that impressive.
Our next honoree is one of those amazing Charlotte Honey Bees…introducing Helen Ann, our next 2015 P-R-O Convention All Star.
We are definitely winding down our coverage from the 2015 P-R-O Convention in Atlanta…only a handful of girls to feature left!
