Tennessee Titans Cheerleader Anne P. at the 2012 P-R-O Convention in Atlanta.
I have been going to the P-R-O Convention in Atlanta since 2010 and I always have a great time because I get to photograph the most beautiful professional cheerleaders in sport. Each year, I get some memorable photos because when you gather 300 of the best dancers and most photogenic girls on the planet, you are bound to get something truly spectacular. And in 2012, I snapped this image of Tennessee Titans Cheerleader Anne P. performing the group dance. I just love the expression on her face and the movement in her hair.

Washington Redskins Cheerleader Amanda in 2011.
In 2011, I took a road trip to D.C. for a Redskins game. I had long admired James photos of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders and I wanted to photograph the girls in person at a game day. So in 2011, I finally made the trek across the country to photograph my dream squad. One great things about going to FedEx Field is that they have a pregame tailgate party where the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders perform and I got several great photos from their pregame performances, but this one was my favorite.

An Arizona Cardinals Cheerleader in 2010.
Through my association with this blog, I received an email from a “fan” who liked my photos and that fan turned out to be Mad Max our former Arizona Correspondent. He was a Cardinals season ticket holder and he invited me to a game in Phoenix, where I photographed the ACC from his seats. And this was one of the photos I got. It resonated with me because the girl is gorgeous and I just like the movement that was captured in the image. I’m big on hair flips!

Spring time is the season of renewal and like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, each year hundreds of hopefuls tryout out for NFL cheerleading teams that hope to renew their squads. For the Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders, it is a new era. Under the leadership of incoming director Erin La Grassa, the 2014 Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders look to build upon the past and add to the tradition of excellence established by former director Heather Karberg.
This past weekend, over a hundred young women tried out for the 2014 Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders in a season where the local team will host the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. Held over the course of several days, the auditions include three rounds of dancing, an interview portion, and a physical fitness/agility test.

San Diego Charger Girl Jennifer O. in 2008.
I’ve been a Chargers season ticket holder since 1999 and I have seen Charger Girls come and go. There have been many memorable Charger Girls over the years and one of them that comes to mind is named Jennifer O., perhaps the most photogenic Charger Girl ever. She oozed sensuality and for a NFL cheerleader, that makes for quite an interesting photograph.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Tobie at the opening weekend of the 2008 training camp in Oxnard.
Off and on for the past several years, the Dallas Cowboys have held their training camp in Oxnard, California. Beginning in 2006, I decided to make the trek up the coast from Los Angeles to catch opening of training camp and photograph the world famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. They usually perform a few dance routines and sign autographs, a rather brief appearance all things considered but well worth it if you are a NFL football fan. And when you get a chance to photograph the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, you have to do so. They are that amazing.
In 2008, I was in Oxnard for training camp and was able to catch the DCC’s appearance during opening weekend where I snapped this photo of Tobie. The DCC are professional dancers and they go full out at these performances. High energy and even higher kicks. I guess what I am saying is that even at a training camp appearance, they put on a show that is quite spectacular. That’s why they are who they are. And this photo of Tobie sums up their performance quite nicely.

San Diego Charger Girl Jacquelyn in 2009.
2009 was a good year…with respect to the Charger Girls. They had a great looking squad that year and several of my all time favorite Charger Girls were on that team. It really was a most photogenic squad and one of the most photogenic was a former USC Song Girl named Jacquelyn, who gave me this memorable image. I just love her wind swept hair as she spins around to face the crowd…one of my favorite photos.

2009 Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders Audition Candidate
One of my first official “gigs” shooting for UltimateCheerleaders.com was the 2009 Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders open call auditions. James was in contact with their director at the time, Heather Karberg, and he reached out and got me credentialed. Heather was a former Charger Girl, whom I had photographed back in the day, so I knew we would hit it off. We did and I have been covering their auditions for the past several years. This year will be my sixth year covering the ACC and it gets better and better each year.
Back in 2009, the Cardinals held their first round auditions at their training facility, on their back porch to be precise. There were over 200 girls trying out and I was the only guy in attendance, other than Scott, the Cardinals mascot who was assisting on that day. You could say I was a little nervous and felt a bit like a fish out of water, surrounded by all these beautiful girls trying out for the cheerleaders. And there were…many…beautiful…girls there, but there was one that stood out in my mind. She was as beautiful as they come and was one of the better dancers, but for some reason she didn’t make it onto the squad. Perhaps it was because she looked a little too young and Arizona is a rather conservative state. I don’t know, but she definitely gave me one of the most memorable photos of the day.
