Ultimate Cheerleaders

The Philadelphia Eagles are holding training camp at Lincoln Financial Field for the first time. The Eagles Cheerleaders, as always were amazing. The NFL’s new “Bag Policy” not so much. The real test will be my first pre-season game this Thursday when the Eagles host the Panthers.

New York Giants fans get a cheerleading swimsuit calendar, without having cheerleaders

For the first time in sports entertainment history, New York cheerleaders have put together a stunning NFL-style swimsuit calendar that is targeted towards the fans of the team they support, but who have no official cheerleaders: The New York Giants.

Entering their 3rd season as the “unofficial” dancers of the Giants, the Gotham City Cheerleaders (GCC) have produced a 12-month pin up calendar for the 2013-2014 football season titled, ALL IN, NEW YORK. The calendar takes an editorial style spin to the paradise-like locations fans have always seen with most NFL cheer calendars.

“We are dedicating this season to our fans and our city. New York has been through a lot this past year, and we intend on highlighting the beautiful sites and talent that make up our classic state,” said Ana De Villegas, Executive Director of the GCC and former Washington Redskins Cheerleader. “Everyone that has worked on this project believes in our team and sees the passion and resiliency of the woman chosen to represent us. It’s only right that we give that back to the fans and local businesses that have helped us make this calendar a reality.”

Part of the proceeds of the calendar sales will be donated to Sandy victims in an effort to continue to support those that are still recovering from the tremendous impact of the storm. Last year, the GCC also donated to the American Red Cross Sandy Fund.

“New York is a city that remains unparalleled to anywhere else in the world. It is full of opportunity and passion, which is why we chose our city as the backdrop to our first calendar. Our outlook was sophistication and class, which I think we accomplished in each shot selected for the final product,” explains Christie Artinger, Director of the GCC’s promotional team, the Ref Squad. “We as a team are proud to provide this memento to our fans and use this as an impactful avenue to raise money for a commendable cause.” Ms. Artinger was a former San Diego Chargers and NY Jets Cheerleader before joining the GCC team of directors.

The GCC releases their 2013-2014 ALL IN, NEW YORK Swimsuit Calendar on Friday, September 6, 2013 at M1-5 Lounge in Tribeca from 6 pm-10 pm. They will perform various routines and showcase some of their featured swimsuits from various designers. Tickets are open to the public and can be purchased on the GCC site: www.nyunofficials.com/CalendarPremiere

The Gotham City Cheerleaders are returning from a two month international performance on the set of Sony Max for the India Premiere Cricket League. Since their launch in the Fall of 2011, the GCC have performed on CBS, FOX5, The Wendy Williams Show, Telemundo, TrueTV, and were also featured in Sean Paul’s music video, “She Doesn’t Mind”, to name a few.

Stephanie Addorisio needs your support.

The 22-year-old Stouffville resident is in the hunt to be a part of the Toronto Raptors Dance Pak group for the upcoming National Basketball Association season.

A former competitive dancer, Addorisio was among 250 women who attended the group’s inaugural auditions to fill nine open spots in July.

From that group, eight were chosen. Another eight, including Addorisio, are among those vying for one last spot to be determined through a You Pick the Pak contest.

Now, it is up to the public to see if Addorisio can make the final cut.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but never had the courage before,” she said. “When I went to a Raptors game and watched the Dance Pak I said to myself this was something I wanted to be a part of.”

Voting, which began Aug. 6 and concludes Aug. 19, is done online at: http://raptorspickthepak.web.mlsecontests.com

Last Saturday the Philadelphia Soul played their last home game of the season.

The Soulmates took this game as an a last opportunity to…

Document the game day experience…

Give some good-bye hugs…

And just be plain silly.

Some will hang up their poms, some will move on to other teams, but we hope to see many of them when auditions roll around is less than three months.

Barrie’s Stefanie Bruno needs your votes.

The dancer is in the running to become the newest member of the Toronto Raptors Dance Pak, but she needs a little help.

“There are eight of us who are trying to make it,” Bruno said. “The one with the most votes gets the spot.”

The Pick the Pak contest has fans vote for their favorite dancer. Voters are also entered to win prizes.

Bruno, a St. Joseph’s High School graduate, is a business management student at Ryerson University.

The 18 year old has been dancing since age three and has been a competitive dancer since she was nine.

“I saw a notice about the auditions last year, but I was too young to tryout. I convinced a friend to go and she made it into the contest,” she said. “This year, I couldn’t wait to try out.”

About 200 dancers came out on audition day, Bruno said. After learning a routine, cuts were made.

“I was so nervous the day before that I didn’t even sleep,” she said. “But I love the Raptors and I couldn’t wait to give it all I’ve got.”

Bruno said she would love to be a part of the pak just to experience the energy each game offers.

“If you’ve ever even been to watch at Raptors game, you know there is this energy in the building,” she said. “I want to be a part of creating that energy.”

Voting is open until Aug. 18.

“Make sure you vote for Stefanie with an F,” Bruno said. “The other girls are great, but I really want to make the pak.”

Tori, in her fourth year with Football’s Fabulous Females, was shocked and overwhelmed when she realized she was the cover girl. “It feels amazing. I was not expecting it at all,” said Tori. “Even when [the curtain] came down I feel like it took me a minute to realize it was me and then I instantly cried.”

All of her teammates cheered and surrounded her after the reveal. “It’s amazing. They’re such great sisters, all of them,” said Tori. “It feels great to have that support from them because it’s very needed. The daily things we go through and the things we go through at practice, they’re always there for us. It was amazing.”

Also on the cover, with her uniform shot, is rookie Autumn. “I was so excited. I was actually really shocked at first because there was a glare and I couldn’t tell it was myself,” said Autumn. “I had no idea it was me, but it was so exciting, especially this year being my rookie year. I just kind of expected it to be all veterans up there. I was really, really happy. Tori looks amazing too. I’m really proud of her and proud to be on the cover with her as well.”

Rachel and Cassie command the back cover of the calendar. “I was completely shocked and amazed. I wasn’t sure to expect,” said Rachel. “This whole calendar, it came out amazing.”

Seeing herself on the back cover was a rush for Rachel. “I was getting nervous. It felt like butterflies,” said Rachel. “A sigh of relief too like all of our hard work paid off.”

Each month of the calendar was also displayed during the Calendar Release Party. After seeing the calendar from front to back, the Raiderettes are convinced Raider Nation will want it on their walls.

“It’s the best calendar the NFL is going to see. It’s awesome,” said Cassie.

Cover girl Tori wants Raider Nation to check it out. “It’s an amazing calendar. I feel like this is the No. 1 calendar,” said Tori. “This year is amazing and we’re outside the studio. There are lots of amazing things to see, the wineries. I think it’s beautiful and everyone looks beautiful in the calendar.”

The calendar release came two days before the Raiders preseason begins and the Raiderettes step foot on the field for the first time in 2013. “It’s really a push forward. We’ve been working so hard these past three months,” said Rachel. “We’re ready to go out there and be the best we can be and be fabulous out there.”

The calendar is now available for purchase at www.raiderimage.com.
