For Jenna Gillund, it’s a jungle out there.
Literally.
Gillund, 23, of Dallas made her debut on NBC’s “Love in the Wild” last night. Gillund was one of six girls who were introduced on the show last night to spice things up.
“Love in the Wild” is a reality TV show that puts men and women together on teams to compete in adventure competitions. It sounds fun and it looks fun, but the goal isn’t fun – it’s to find love.
This is the show’s second season, which is airing this summer at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, is hosted by Jenny McCarthy.
According to her bio on “Love in the Wild’s” website, Gillund went on the show partially because she’s tired of the Dallas dating scene.
“Dallas is a beautiful place and there are beautiful people,” she said.
But it might be too beautiful.
“Everybody is a Cowboys cheerleader or a Mavs cheerleader or this beautiful girl who goes to SMU,” she said. “Everybody feels like they’re somebody here.”
And she would know – Gillund was a dancer for the Dallas Mavericks for several years. She left the team to pursue other goals after the Mavs beat the Miami Heat in the NBA Championship.
“I figured I’d go out on top, you know?” she said.
Gillund grew up in Chicago and has lived in nine states over the years. The tropical jungles and sandy beaches of the Dominican Republic were quite the change from the bright lights of Dallas.
“Down there, the stars are your lights at night,” she said.
Gillund said her family and friends have been supportive of her fledging reality TV career, but at first, they didn’t believe her that she’d be on the show.
“I’ve done a lot of random things,” she said. “But once I actually got my ticket and was like, ‘Hey, can you come get my dog for two months?’ I think that’s when it set in.”

Going Pro Entertainment broadens its reach beyond pro dance and cheerleading in summer 2012 presenting the Going Pro Expo in Chicago on Sunday, June 24. 2012.
“Going Pro Entertainment was founded on serving the professional cheerleading and dance industry,” says founder Laura Eilers, 6-year NFL cheerleader. “We realize that pro dance crosses into many other genres such as fitness, pageantry and modeling. Pro dance alumni are often asking ‘What’s next?’ and find success in fitness competitions or broadcasting. Likewise, many pro dancers have their roots in pageants or promotion work. The topics we discuss as pro cheerleaders are applicable to so many other women who want to look and feel great. Therefore, Going Pro is proud to partner with Hi Fi Fitness in Chicago to launch our new event format: the Going Pro Expo!”
On Sunday, June 24, the Chicago Going Pro Expo will offer workshops, shopping, networking and choreographers throughout the day. A single ticket admission starts at $12.00 and will allow attendees free entry to a number of presentations and vendors. Choreography session tickets should be purchased separately, which includes event entry.
Meanwhile, active workshops allow attendees to meet and share ideas with outstanding professionals including Wynne Lacey, the director of the NHL Chicago Blackhawks Ice Crew; Mickey Oliver, DJ and creator of local Vegas-style musical Intensi-T; Alberto Daniel, owner of a self titled salon; and Going Pro’s founder Laura Eilers, also the reigning 2011 Ms. United States.

Shannon Bex grew up in Bend and graduated from Mt View High School. She returned 5 years ago with her husband Ron Basada. Shannon was a Blazer Dancer for 5 years. She then went on the show Fame in which she got runner up. Later Shannon was featured on MTV’s show Making The Band in which P.Diddy selected her as one of the 5 members to make up the music group Danity Kane. The group went Double Platinum. After it’s final episode on MTV, Shannon started pursuing her solo career in country soul.
Shannon is currently working with Pledge EP to launch her solo album. The EP album will only go through if Shannon reaches 100% of the money needed. So far with the pledges made by fans she is at 67%. She has only 4 more days with approximately $6,000 left to raise. If she does not reach the goal, EP will not complete the album and those who donated will be refunded their money. If she does reach her goal, 8% will go to OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and her Solo Album will be produced.
This is a life long dream for Shannon and she has worked hard to achieve it. Shannon really needs the support of her home town at this late hour to help reach this goal. She is loved by all of her fans as she is a sweet, humble, and amazing women. Shannon is also known in Oregon from the years she spent as a BlazerDancer and singing the national anthem at Blazer games. Please help Shannon raise sufficient funds in time by going to her website today and pledging money for any of the packages offered.
