The new cheer and dance coach at Central Methodist University comes with most impressive credentials. And Terin Fuemmeler has the enthusiasm to match it.
Fuemmeler, who began work at CMU this past Monday, has most recently been the cheer coach for the Glasgow High School Yellowjackets. But not long ago, she was on the sidelines as a cheerleader for the Kansas City Chiefs.
And before that, the Olathe, Kansas native was a Kansas University Crimson Girl and Spirit Squad member. She is a KU graduate.
“Cheer and dance have been my life, from high school through college and at the professional level,” Fuemmler said. “I love it. The students here will gain so many different skills they can use, no matter what they choose to do in life.”
Fuemmeler will coach and supervise both CMU’s cheerleaders and its dance team. Yet the job involves much more than choreography and technique, though those are certainly important parts of it.
She will also be expected to actively recruit new members to the two squads, and monitor the academic performance of members of both groups. Fundraising and budget management are important elements, too.
“I like the way the position is structured,” Fuemmler said. “It’s an enormous load, but I will give it everything I have in me – it’s going to be great.” Fuemmeler will also teach classes for CMU.
It’s a good thing Fuemmeler has an abundance of energy, because in addition to her new opportunity at Central Methodist, she and husband Josh have other demands for their time. Three in particular: daughter Tenley (2½) and seven-month-old twins Tyley and Trey.
The first hour will be like a standard dance class including a stretch, technique like skill progression, pirouette turns, high kicks, walks and a fun pro style dance combination. The second hour will concentrate more on the dance style and specific topic such as communication, fitness, attire, professionalism, and other aspects of auditions. All classes include the opportunity for questions and answers with the Lady Raiders director.
No dance experience is too much or too little – you have to start somewhere! Even the best dancers benefit from these classes to study the performance style of the Lady Raiders, NFL, NBA and other pro level dance and cheer teams.
Class is led by Laura Eilers, director and choreographer of the Lady Raiders Dance & Cheer Team, alumni St Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader, choreographer for University of Richmond SpinURs, the Science Cheerleaders, the Portsmouth Cavaliers ABA Dance Team, owner of Going Pro Entertainment, LLC, certified personal trainer & fitness instructor.

It started with 284 hopefuls early Saturday morning at Met Life Stadium at 2012-13 NY Jets Flight Crew Auditions. After two long days of auditions, thirty-one young ladies advanced to next Sunday’s Finals. This week these candidates will have business interviews, while returning Flight Crew veterans will learn the choreography taught at Semi-Finals.
The Wings Angels closed out the regular season back on April 6th. So this may have well been the last game for Angels Captain Lauren who is hanging up her boots after 5 seasons and 50 games.
But not so fast! The Wings are in the playoffs and could potentially host up to three playoff games (depending on the outcome of their final two games), so maybe we haven’t seen the last of Lauren, Angel and the rest of the retiring Angels.
