Some of the guys. I guess everyone reading this site is familiar with the fact that only the Ravens have male cheerleaders (sorry Green Bay!) I think the Titans were the most recent team to discontinue the guys, sometime back in the early 2000s. But for a while it looked like co-ed squads were going to be the wave of the future, and then bam!, they were gone.

I remember guys on the Dolphins and Vikings in the mid 90s, maybe the Bucs too. The Chargers were Cheerleaderless in the 80s and when they brought back the squad in the early 90s - Guys and Girls. I even remember an Eagles game it had to be the early 2000s before they tore down the vet, where the girls were doing Liberties while the guys held them up. I am sure Sasha will be along shortly to give us a full detailed history of all the teams with male cheerleaders.

From The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Website:

Skydiving with the Army’s Golden Knights was such an exhilarating experience. Hands down, this was the most frightening thing I have ever done! After the initial jump, I relaxed and felt like I was flying . . . so amazing. As soon as I landed I wanted to go again. This was a major check mark on my bucket list. Thank you Golden Knights!
~Kiley

I had the opportunity to skydive with the best of the best – the US Army’s Golden Knights! I have been mentally preparing myself to do this and I was so excited and anxious to skydive for the first time. Once I got strapped in the nerves started coming. When it was my turn to jump, nothing was holding me back from this amazing experience I was about to have. I had such a blast and I can’t wait to someday do it again! Thanks to the Golden Knights and my tandem partner, Joe, for my memorable skydive!
~Ariana

Skydiving was an awesome experience. I would not have been able to live with myself if I turned this opportunity down. The feeling I got was almost unexplainable; fear, excitement, thankfulness, and sadness all for so many reasons. I have always been afraid of heights but by going skydiving, I conquered my one of my biggest fears. The Golden Knights made this even easier because they were so welcoming and positive about it all. Jumping at an altitude of over 13,000 feet isn’t the easiest pill to swallow, but I did it! They are truly the best.
~Aja

I had the unbelievable experience to skydive with the one and only US Army’s Golden Knights Tandem Team (the best in the world!). I had the privilege to tandem with SSG Noah Watts and could not ask for a better partner! This was the most daring and unforgettable experience I ever had and will NEVER forget. I hope to do it again in the future… yes, again! It was that incredible!
GO KNIGHTS!

From DanceSpirit:

500 women audition for the team each year. They come from all over the country and the world.

30 finalists are selected to attend the KCD training camp. After an open call, the finalists go through a series of rehearsals and fitness tests so the judges can see what their work ethic is like.

22 women made the team for the 2011–12 season, including a captain and two co-captains.

10+ hours are spent rehearsing each week, plus two additional hours on game days.

14–18 dancers are on the floor each night. The entire team doesn’t perform during games. The bigger the game, the more dancers are on the floor.

19,463 seats are in Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks City Dancers perform.

33 performance nights are planned for the current season. The dancers perform at every home game, plus playoffs. In a regular season there are 41 home games, but there are only

33 this season due to the NBA lockout at the beginning of the season.

30 routines are performed by the KCD throughout the season.

4+ is the number of times the team performs per game. The girls take the floor for two full routines, during player introductions and during fourth-quarter “hype” timeouts.

5 pairs of shoes are worn by each team member: sneakers, boots (two pairs), character shoes and appearance high heels.

13 costumes are worn by each dancer throughout the season.

Over 300 men and women tried turned out for auditions, a big increase from last year. Reasons for the bigger number include, more advertising, the success of the football team last year and the return of the Calendar trip for 2012.

The Toronto Argonauts are looking for 30 women to comprise the 2012 Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, and be part of the 139th season of Argonauts football as well as the 100th Grey Cup Festival and Game to be hosted right here in Toronto!

Jorie Brown, Head Coach of the Argos Cheerleaders, commented, “As a member of one of the most entertaining cheerleading teams in professional sport, you’ll feel the rush of running into a stadium filled with tens of thousands of screaming Double Blue fans, the exhilaration from the routines you get to perform with your teammates, and fulfillment from all of the great community work we participate in year round. This year will be one of the most exciting seasons to join the Argos Cheerleaders because the 100th Grey Cup Festival and Game will be right here, in our very own city! I want to encourage all ladies from different dance and cheer backgrounds to audition and be part of something very special in 2012.”

As a member of the Argos Cheerleaders, you’ll perform at every home game and select away games, as part of Toronto’s most exciting and established cheerleading team. On the field, you will capture the attention of thousands of fans at Rogers Centre. In the stands, you will meet the city’s most dedicated sports fans. This is your opportunity to represent your city, support some meaningful charity events and act as a role model for many young girls.

Toronto will also host the 100th Grey Cup Festival and Game which gives members of this year’s squad an opportunity to be a part of history. You’ll represent the Double Blue on a national stage during Canada’s largest annual event over ten energy-packed festival days in November, culminating in front of thousands of CFL fans at the big game, and millions more on television, at Rogers Centre!

If you are female, 19 years and over, reliable, physically fit with dance, cheer or gymnastics experience and a positive attitude – we want you to try out! The Argos Cheerleaders have been an integral part of the Argo game day experience for over 30 years and now is your turn to come out and become one of the 30 members of the team. Those who audition will be evaluated on appearance, dance skills, showmanship and personality.

From The Atlanta Falcons Blog:

The offseason is a time for players to relax a bit and enjoy some of the things they love away from the field. For the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders, it’s a chance to follow their dreams and reach their goals.

So far, it’s given rookie cheerleader Jamie K. the chance to appear in a new music video. Jamie was cast as a waitress in the new Rascal Flatts video for the song “Banjo.”

Jamie was involved in a couple of different shoot locations, including one out in the country that was tough to get to.

“(We) literally had to walk down a gravel road for a substantial distance and jump over puddles,” Jamie said. “It had just rained the night before, so at times you were ankle-deep in mud.”

Jamie appears in the video around the 2:15 mark and then again near the end of the video. She says this appearance likely won’t be her last.

“It was my first music video, which was super exciting and I hope there’s more,” she said. “Maybe I’ll play a love interest next time instead of wiping down tables.”

Jamie was also the 2011-12 Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar cover girl.

Kings Vision was on hand for the 11-12 Ice Crew calendar photo shoot! Check out this profile featuring the cover girl, Jenn!
