Sometimes it only takes one person to realize the potential someone has and help them to reach it.

Lady Cat Brittany Kerr was cruising around in her car this summer with her friend and fellow Lady Cat Rhema, when the band Pussycat Dolls came on the radio. The two joined in and it didn’t take long for Rhema to realize Brittany’s talents.

“I heard Brittany belting it out and I told her, you can genuinely sing,” said Rhema. “She was all bashful saying she couldn’t sing, but I kept telling her she could genuinely sing.”

Once Rhema heard Brittany singing, she was convinced – Brittany had to try out for American Idol. Brittany tried to play it off at first, telling Rhema there was no way she was good enough to make that leap, but with some more prodding from her friend, Brittany finally decided to give it a shot.

“I have always been a huge fan of music. I think I just did a lot of singing, in my room, in my car and by myself,” she said. “I started to realize I had a chance to take my singing a step further, so I decided to go on Idol.”

Once she decided to tryout of for American Idol, it was off to Savannah, Georgia, where she made quite an impression on judge Steven Tyler. Kerr had just walked onto the stage when Tyler all of a sudden said, “I say yes!”

Even though this was a boost of confidence, Kerr still had to sing for the three judges. The song she decided to sing was “Spoiled” by Joss Stone.

Randy Jackson cast the first vote and, like Tyler, was impressed with Kerr and voted for her to move on.

The next judge, Jennifer Lopez, was not as impressed as the other judges and voted against Kerr going to Hollywood.

This left the final decision up to Tyler, and her performance did not change his opinion, as he again voted for Kerr to get her golden ticket.

This means Kerr is moving on to the Hollywood round, and she could not hide her excitement, along with the many people with her supporting her throughout her incredible journey watching at Strike City in the Epicentre on Wednesday night.

“I am super excited. As you guys just saw, I got my ticket to Hollywood,” she beamed. “I am here with all my friends and family and they are supporting me.”

As great as the accomplishment is for Brittany, it’s also another accomplishment for NBA’s Back-to-Back Most Popular Dance Team, the Lady Cats.

“This is bringing so much attention to our team and organization,” said Rhema. “Brittany was already a star, and now we get to see her on a different stage in a totally different light. We are trying to achieve so many goals and it is truly a blessing, and we could not be more proud of her.”

Now it’s off to Hollywood, where Brittany will again showcase her talent to the country. How far will she go? Make sure to check your local listings and tune to FOX to watch American Idol.

Today the San Antonio Talons professional football team announced an open call tryout for the 2012 inaugural season female dance team. The open tryouts will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 8:00 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 111 East Pecan Street in downtown San Antonio. The Talons’ dance team, the Sky Dancers, will be led by Director and Choreographer Jessica-Marie Sanchez, a veteran dancer and former captain of the San Antonio Spurs Silver Dancers, and first place nominee as the NBA’s Hottest Cheerleader.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for area dance enthusiasts,” says Sanchez. “Being a part of a professional dance team that garners a huge community following and national audience is something that most dancers never have the chance to experience, and we are excited to make that dream become a reality here in San Antonio.”

All participants must complete an application by midnight on Friday, January 27; the application is available on the San Antonio Talons website at www.sanantoniotalons.com/sky-dancers. There will be a discounted fee of $25 for participants who register and pre-pay online; participants who register and pay on the day-of auditions will be charged the full fee of $30. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Texas Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

“We are looking for young professionals who can bring excitement and energy to the franchise as the Talons become more and more engrained in the San Antonio community,” says Owner and General Manager Jason Lohe. “These women will support the team on the sidelines, but will also support and represent the Talons organization at community and game day events and appearances.”

During the tryouts, the contenders will learn and present a Jazz/Hip Hop Routine and a short sideline combo, they will also have the opportunity to dance a freestyle segment. The women will be trying out in small groups of two to three people in front of a panel of esteemed judges.

The finalists will be announced immediately following the auditions on Saturday; those select individuals will be invited to return to the finalist competition on Monday, January 30. The finalist auditions will also be held at the Crowne Plaza and will be open to family, friends and the general public. More information about the finalist competition, including surprise celebrity judges, will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We are happy to host the Talons and the Sky Dancers for this tryout event,” says Crowne Plaza Hotel General Manager Scott Larsen. “A professional football team will bring new visibility to our city, encouraging an influx of fans and visitors to downtown. We look forward to the energy and excitement that the entire Talons franchise will bring to San Antonio.”

The Tennessee Titans Cheerleaders will show their support for our troops with three separate trips overseas.

Six Titans cheerleaders, who rehearsed final details of their MWR tour performance Wednesday night at the Nashville Athletic Club, will depart Nashville this Friday to visit troops in Kuwait for a week. The cheerleaders will be performing a one-hour show at five different military bases with a demanding schedule.

In addition, other military trips will include two Titans cheerleaders joining a group of NFL cheerleaders traveling to Diego Garcia and Singapore at the end of January for a seven-day trip. In addition, Titans Pro Bowl Cheerleader, Brooke, will be visiting troops in Guam for a week, departing from Hawaii on January 31 after the Pro Bowl.

“We are incredibly honored to be able to see tens of thousands of members of our U.S. Military stationed abroad over the next month,” said Stacie Kinder, Titans Director of Cheerleading. “These men and women are the real heroes of our country and to be able to bring them a little bit of ‘home’ when they are missing their loved ones is so meaningful for all of us. We are very familiar with Fort Campbell and have enjoyed our visits on base, so we know we have a lot of Titans fans over there that will be thrilled to see their favorite cheerleaders from various teams. Preparing for these trips has been a great deal of work, but it’s been worth every minute, knowing who we will be entertaining.”
