Ultimate Cheerleaders

pcaThe Professional Cheerleaders Alumni, Inc. comprised of former Professional NFL Cheerleaders, are launching the Fourth Annual Audition Prep Classes to prepare ladies (17 & over) interested in auditioning for professional or semi-professional cheerleading or dance teams. Many pro teams in Jacksonville begin holding auditions as early as February for the 2011 season, and these NFL Alumni are offering their experience and advice to help make the cut.

Audition Prep Classes will be facilitated by NFL alumni cheerleaders who will instruct and mentor attendees in prep classes held every other Saturday from January through March at Bailey’s Powerhouse Gym on Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville.

Instructors of this program have extensive backgrounds in dance, from the fundamentals of ballet to advanced gymnastics. Their goal is to share the fundamentals of each discipline so that every participant gets a well-rounded experience and preparation of what to expect at an audition, and understand the responsibilities that come with being a professional cheerleader/dancer. The classes will include:

* Choreographers teaching dance styles such as jazz, hip-hip, kicks, and NFL-style techniques required for most auditions such as turns, leaps and combinations across the floor, proper kick and split techniques, jumps, and other skill requirements. A personal training expert will also conduct targeted exercise workouts and provide nutrition suggestions that the attendees are recommended to follow through auditions.
* Advice from alumni about Presentation, Projection and Attire including audition application tips, choosing the proper head shot, giving a professional and memorable introduction to the judges, interview skills, presenting yourself with confidence and professionalism, proper posture and voice projection and audition attire tips for best fit, color, styles, etc.
* Hair and make-up experts will demonstrate styling and application techniques to apply eye makeup, liner, shadow, and eyelashes, as well as choosing correct colors for specific skin tones, lip color, and recommend tips for long lasting make-up.

The President of Professional Cheerleaders Alumni, Kristin Doakes, says “Over the past three years we have mentored over 150 young ladies to prepare them for professional level auditions. Last year several of our participants made NFL and semi-pro teams and have expressed how helpful these classes have been in preparing them. It’s an honored opportunity to watch them transform and grow, especially in their confidence. Past participants have said that even if they didn’t make the team they are auditioning for, they have grown from the experience we teach in classes.”

One of Aubrey Aquino’s (former Raiderette, Cardinals Cheerleader, Sac. Kings Fast Break Dancer) many jobs is as a Manager for Young Money artist Jae Millz. They just released a HOT video for his song featuring Chris Brown called “Green Gobblin.” Aubrey coordinated and supervised the video, hence co-producer, and she also cast Florida Marlins Mermaid Carin to be featured in it as a dancer/model.

This is a special blog post from Fisher Creative Image Photography about a visit to Thursday night’s Jills practice by a big Jills fan:

BIG THANKS to Stephanie, Nichole and Buffalo Jills!

Mary is an older woman with Down Syndrome and as well as many other debilitating diseases. She is small in stature but mighty in fortitude and wanting to live a full life. In a recent conversation with her, I learned that she had several dreams she wanted to complete in her life. She resides in an ARC home that has a terrific staff. One of Mary’s life-long dreams was to go on a roller coaster, which made me curious if she could meet the height requirement. The staff took Mary to Darien Lake and she rode all the different roller coasters there. She grinned ear to ear as she told me of how the staff didn’t fare too well, but she could have ridden all day! She became quite animated as she boasted on her accomplishment.

Another dream Mary shared was that she wanted to play pool. Toward the close of summer, a staff member took Mary to a place where she played pool. “I won all three games, I did! exclaimed Mary. Being legally blind, this was quite a wonderful time for her to be able to complete this dream.

If you are looking for something to do before the highly anticipated matchup with the Giants this Sunday, be sure to check out the movie How Do You Know when it hits theatres this Friday, December 17th. This romantic comedy was written and directed by the talented James L. Brooks. The movie casts stars such as Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon, Jack Nicholson and twelve members of your Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleading squad!

Heery Casting reached out to the Eagles Cheerleaders when scenes for the movie were being filmed in Philadelphia in August of 2009. They were looking for beautiful, glamorous women to appear in a number of scenes and thought that Eagles Cheerleaders would be perfect for those scenes. Second year member of the squad, Lindsey said, “Being on the set of How Do You Know was one of the most exciting experiences I have ever had. It was the first time I had taken part in a blockbuster movie production.”

Joining Lindsey were fellow cheerleaders Tiffany, Tracey, Alicia, Laura, Michelle, Amy, Kristin, Jamie, Krystle, Kim, Erica, and Khira. When talking about the highlights of being on set for the movie Lindsey added, “I never would have thought that I would be a part of a movie with huge Hollywood actors like Owen Wilson and Reese Witherspoon, who were both so nice to talk to. Owen Wilson was very funny and down to earth. He was definitely the class clown on set. He actually acted pretty star struck to meet us, which I was not expecting! I can’t wait to go see the movie on the 17th and finally see the finished product.”

We hope you get a chance to check out How Do You Know and be sure to keep a look out for the Eagles Cheerleaders throughout the movie.
