I thought Philadelphia was bad, but Sunday in Washington DC was hot, hot, hot. And humid, too. I drove down for my first ever look at the Washington Kastles Cheerleaders. It was a great relief that the tennis match started at 7:00pm and as the sun dropped lower and lower, things cooled of considerably.

The Washington Kastles Cheerleaders are under the direction of our good friend Donald Wells. And if you think you recognize some of these ladies, you are probably correct. They all previously cheered for the Redskins.

Now you’re probably wondering what do the cheerleaders do at a tennis match. Pretty much the same thing, they do at any other sporting event.

chelsearedI don’t have a TV, but last time I visited my parents, my mom was watching a show on the Do-It-Yourself Channel. There was a familiar face on the screen and I said “Hey, I know her, that’s Chelsea from Washington Redskins Cheerleaders.

The episode is titled Cozy Bar & Dining Room. They fix up her back patio in and install a built-in grill, sitting wall, and a kegerator.

It airs three times this Friday. (3:30 PM e/p, 10:00 PM e/p and 1:00 AM e/p [actually, early Saturday morning])

Detroit Pistons Dance Team To Be Chosen LIVE On July 29

The Detroit Pistons dance team Automotion will hold their final round of auditions in the first ever Automotion Audition Finals event sponsored by WRIF-FM radio, on Thursday, July 29th at 7:30 p.m. at The Crofoot Ballroom in downtown Pontiac. Admission to the Automotion Audition Finals is FREE and open to the public (18 and older), with a cash bar available.

“The finals event gives fans an opportunity to witness the audition process first hand,” said Automotion dance team director Rebecca Girard. “Fans who attend are in for an evening of true Pistons entertainment, fun and excitement. For the finalists, performing in front of an audience will be a treat regardless of if they make the team or not.”

The event will feature 40 finalists who have survived the team’s audition process, narrowing down the approximate 150 candidates who began the week. All 40 finalists will perform a choreographed dance together to open the show, then candidates will perform again later in the show, in groups of six, where they will be critiqued by a panel of celebrity judges which includes the reigning Miss USA, Rima Fakih, Pistons legend Rick Mahorn and Meltdown from WRIF-FM. The announcement of the 15-member team will be made at the end of the show.

In addition to the finalist performances, special appearances will be made by the Detroit Pistons Drumline, Pistons Spare Tires and local rock band Wilson.

Showing their support will be a collection of celebrity guests from the Detroit Pistons.

Automotion members will serve as ambassadors of the Detroit Pistons and will represent the organization both on and off the court for the 2010-2011 season. Automotion team members are required to dance during every Pistons home game and to represent the organization throughout the year at various team and charity functions.

RSVP to Rebecca Girard at 248-375-4079, rgirard@palacenet.com or via Facebook by Friday, July 23.

(Yes, I still have much more to post from P-R-O)

This is Tracey, a two-year veteran of the Redskins Cheerleaders.  She has a degree in Communications from Virginia Wesleyan College and works for a digital marketing company as an Account/Sales Rep.

When I talked to Tracey at P-R-O, she had some very exciting news. Maxim had selected her to be in an upcoming issue. The Monday after the convention, she and WRC Director Stephanie Jojokian were to take the Metroliner to New York City for the photo shoot. Tracey wasn’t completely sure what to expect. They had asked for her measurements, and she was bringing along a plethora of Redskins Cheerleaders uniforms.

We’ll get to see how it turned out in a few weeks.

Titans Online

cheercamp071810The Tennessee Titans cheerleaders recently finished their 2010 training camp in June, physically preparing themselves for the upcoming season.

In addition to team rehearsal Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the seven rookie cheerleaders practiced every Saturday in June, working on sideline dance routines and building relationships for a successful season.

The rookies were taught by the four veteran captains, including Brooke, Julia, Natalie, and Shauna. The leadership of the captains helped the rookies understand the importance of representing the Tennessee Titans organization.

Throughout training camp, the entire squad practiced dance routines that will be performed at the home games this year, beginning with the preseason home opener against Arizona Aug. 23 on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

The cheerleaders not only learned dances, but also prepared for their two tests which included a written exam and fitness test.

On June 25th, the Titans cheerleaders participated in Fitness Friday, which consisted of a timed mile, shuttle run, endurance drills, v-ups, and step up tests. The cheerleaders who successfully completed this portion of training camp received a special commemorative tank top.

“It definitely is a challenge both physically and mentally,” veteran cheerleader Shauna said. “The exercises are difficult and you definitely want to stop, but we all succeeded with each others’ help and motivation.”

The cheerleaders will enjoy a two-week break prior to resuming practices in mid-July.
