Your inbox is full of emails that beg “Can you get me tickets to a game?” Your pajamas and practice clothes are one in the same. You claim “My new fave!” after each dance you learn at rehearsal. You pretty much wear false eye lashes every day in case of a last minute appearance. You are a PRO CHEERLEADER or PRO DANCER.

We feel ya. We know what it takes to walk that walk and have swagga’ like you. It’s totally acceptable in our world to tease, toss, flip, and point. Not many people can experience the thrill of performing in front of thousands, traveling worldwide, or posing for calendars and websites. But we got ya. We know how hard you’ve worked and we know how accomplished you feel.

Coming to the P-R-O Convention in Atlanta is half work…and half play. The work is all the sweat, all the choreography, all the steps, all the tosses, all the kicks, all the shakin’, and all of the smiling. The play is the laughs, the non-competitive nature of the other teams, the Sideline Distraction™ magazine unveiling, the cool things the sponsors showcase, the pictures that you take, and the friends that you meet.
If you think you can handle it, then we’ll see you there. Atlanta is where it goes down. June 19th-20th. So register now. Book a flight. Make it happen. You already made your lifelong dream come true. So why not come live it?

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are holding a nationwide search for their 2010 squad. Preliminary auditions are set for May 15, 2010 at Cowboys Stadium.

CMT will go behind closed doors for another season series to witness the sacred tryouts of one of the nation’s most beloved institutions in Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.

Interested candidates may obtain an application by calling 972-556-9932 or by visiting www.dallascowboyscheerleaders.com. All applicants must meet the following requirements:

· Must be at least 18 years of age by May 15, 2010
· Must hold a high school diploma or G.E.D
· Must live in (or relocate to) the DFW Metroplex if selected
· Must have reliable transportation
· Must have all necessary documentation to work in this country in this capacity
· Must be able to attend all rehearsals

During the preliminary round, candidates will have the opportunity to perform “freestyle” dance moves in groups of five for the judging panel. At the end of the performances, the judges’ selections for callbacks will be posted. Successful participants will then advance to a semi-final, personal interview and final round of competition before becoming a member of the 2010 squad.

“We look for ladies with a special sparkle to serve as goodwill ambassadors for the Dallas Cowboys,” said Kelli Finglass, Director of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. “The ladies selected for the 2010 squad must be intelligent, poised, attractive, confident and talented entertainers who are willing to accept responsibility as role models to women across the globe. This is a unique opportunity for them to share the magic of representing a championship organization.”

Since their first Championship days in the 1970’s, the Dallas Cowboys have been called “America’s Team” and their famed cheerleaders are “America’s Sweethearts.” The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have been often imitated throughout the league, but never equaled in terms of beauty, style, athleticism and worldwide popularity. The white and blue star-spangled uniforms have unquestionably become an iconic symbol of America. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders perform for more than 80,000 fans at all home games in the new Cowboys Stadium, travel to exotic locations on the Swimsuit Calendar Shoot, perform around the world on USO Tours for American military personnel and make countless appearances in film and television. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders made history as the first cheerleading squad to have a self-titled made for television movie and received the first-ever USO “Spirit of Hope Award” in recognition of the many years of distinguished service to men, women and families of American Armed Forces.

Okay, remember this photo of former Baltimore Ravens Cheerleader Shea? He was at the Redskins Cheerleaders Finals earlier this month and he was there to cheer on his former Ravens teammate Sarita.

Nothing to see here, right? I mean I’d also cheer on Sarita (and Jamilla and Talmesha and Buffy and the Ashleys….you get the idea.)

Eva Ena and Sarita at the end of the 2007 season.

Sarita when she was with the Buffalo Jills.

But actually there is more to it. You see Shea and Sarita are engaged. There’s an engagement party next month, and the wedding will take place this November in Rochester, NY.

Shea’s already retired from Cheerleading so he could focus on law school. He graduates next month. Sarita says she most likely hanging up the poms after this season. It will be her 6th in the NFL: two each with Buffalo, Baltimore and Washington.

An NFL Cheerleader marriage is not completely without precedent. A couple of years ago the Ravens had a husband and wife on the team, but it is pretty rare.

We want to congratulate Sarita and Shea and wish them nothing but happiness and success!

The Let Us Play! Jr 2K running event took place on April 24th with over 2500 kids ages 5 – 13 participating in the event to promote a healthy lifestyle, healthy food choices and the importance of exercise. Every runner was a winner and handed a medal by a member of the military. The Axe Maidens were there to help warm-up the participants with Radio Disney and encourage & cheer on the runners at the start/finish lines.

Been a while since we’ve done one of these polls.

Surprising news from Raiders.com

karenretiresKaren Kovac gives instructions to the 2010 edition of the Raiderettes – Football’s Fabulous Females. Photo by Tony Gonzales.

Dear Raider Nation,

I write this to thank the Raider fans and Raiderettes everywhere. Working with the special women known as our Raiderettes over the past 14 years as choreographer and past six years as director has been an integral part of my work and indeed my life.

Together with coordinating game day entertainment it has been a fabulous experience from day one. Our Junior Raiderette Program, Spirit Explosion, community charity work, and military goodwill tours are shining examples of our positive Raiderette outreach and through these programs I have come to know many of you personally.

Thank you all for your unwavering support, volunteerism, and passion. I would not trade any moment of my time here with you and the talented people who work within the Raider organization. It has been a rewarding experience, not as a chapter in my life, but a full volume.

Thank you.
