Ultimate Cheerleaders

The Ironettes (cheerleader-esque backup dancers) appear in the beginning of Iron Man 2 (in theaters May 7th). On of the Ironettes is played by former Denver Broncos Pro Bowl Cheerleader Renee Herlocker.

Renee was supposed to have a bit of dialogue, but because Robert Downey Jr. was having a hard time remembering his lines, they shortened the whole scene and her lines were cut.

2010-2011 Frisco NBA D-League Dancer Auditions FAQ

What style of dance will the group perform?

The style of dance will be a combination of jazz, hip hop, and pom routines. We pride ourselves on being a versatile dance team: therefore, we are looking for dancers that can perform all three styles of dance exceptionally well. The best way to prepare for auditions is to attend the pro team prep classes and/or take intermediate – advanced dance and technique classes in the style of jazz and hip hop.

What is required of the dancers during the season?
*March – June Dancers must attend mandatory once weekly rehearsals held on Sundays. July – End of season dancers must attend twice weekly rehearsals which are held every Sunday and Wednesday. The Director reserves the right to call extra mandatory rehearsals if necessary.
*Rehearsals will take place at Frisco Power House of Dance and occasionally at the Dr. Pepper Center.
*Dancers perform at every Frisco home game during the 2010-2011 season. The season begins November 2010 and continues through April 2011.
*There are approximately 24 home games this season.
*Dancers are compensated for their performance at each game at a rate of $25.00 per game. Dancers are not compensated for rehearsals

Are you required to Pre Register? You do not have to pre register. There is a $25.00 application fee.

What age do you have to be to audition?

*You must be at least 18 years of age by audition date in order to audition for the 2010-2011 team.
*There is no age limit.

What is the audition process?
Round 1: Auditions will begin with a technical combination across the floor. You will be expected to execute a variety of technical dance skills, which may include but not limited to leaps, kicks, toe touches and double pirouettes.
Round 2: Dancers making it past the first round of auditions will be taught a four to six 8-count combination. Dancers will perform the combination in small groups for the judges.
Round 3: Dancers selected to continue to the third round will learn additional four to six 8-counts to the combination. Dancers will perform the routine in small groups for the judges. The audition will conclude with a short interview with the judges.
The 2010-2011 squad will be announced at the conclusion of the audition.

How many dancers will be selected?
Ten to fifteen dancers will be selected for the team, depending on the caliber of the dancers at the audition. The group will be comprised of only the most talented dancers, and we will not sacrifice quality for quantity.

What will the judges be looking for?

*Advanced levels of dance technique
*Capable of executing a variety of dance styles
*Great personality
*Positive attitude
*Physically fit with a healthy appearance
*Maturity

From OrlandoPredators.com

orlpredaudsIt was heartbreaking for some and exciting for others. Nonetheless, it was a long day full of action for all who came out. Saturday afternoon marked the beginning of a journey; a journey to find the 2010 Orlando Predator Prowlers. Over 40 women came in Saturday afternoon with dreams of being called a Prowler. They came from all over, each with a story and a dream. There were salsa champions and stuntwomen. They were mothers and there were ladies fresh out of high school. We even had a pearl diver from Sea World there trying out. Each of them had one end goal in mind: to make it to the finals. Each round began with the participants learning a routine that they performed in front of the judges. After the second round, the first set of cuts was made.

Once the cuts were finalized, the remaining contestants had to learn one more routine and perform that in front of the judges. Some had to dance two and even three times in that final period for the judges. Then, the waiting game began again. It was a nervous time for all involved. Some dancers stayed in the room while others sat outside to wait. When everyone was reassembled, the finalists were announced. To say it was a very emotional time would be a vast understatement. The day began at New Dimensions Dance Academy in Oviedo with gray clouds, cold conditions, and ladies full of optimism. It ended in a mixture of bittersweet darkness and sanguine brightness.

Now, we are drawing closer to the finals on Saturday night which should be full of butterflies, anxiousness, and emotion. It’s hard to put into words what these talented women will be feeling come Saturday evening. Think about how Jamie McMurray felt after he won the Daytona 500. When he spoke to the reporter moments after he achieved the biggest moment of his professional life, he wept openly. You saw how much it meant to him to be in victory lane at that point in time. Think back to a time when you achieved something you invested so much sweat, time, and tears in. A select few will experience that feeling on Saturday night at Antigua.

When the spotlight shines its brightest, who will step up and earn their place as a Predator Prowler? Only time will tell…
