Cheerleaders were selected for the 2010 Titans squad Sunday at Limelight in downtown Nashville.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A packed house at Limelight witnessed the formation of the 2010 Titans Cheerleading squad Sunday night.

The final auditions, presented by Sun Tan City, were the culmination of a process that began nearly two months ago. The evening began with 48 finalists and ended with 26 ladies making the 2010 squad.
“I am thrilled with the team we have in place for the 2010 season,” said Stacie Kinder, director of cheerleaders for the Titans. “The competition was very close, but the judges did an excellent job choosing the best of the best.”
A panel of celebrity judges that included former Titans safety Blaine Bishop, Grammy-nominated and Survivor Final Four contestant, Taj Johnson-George (wife of former Titans RB Eddie George) and former Miss Tennessee, Allison DeMarcus graded contestants on their appearance, physique, dance ability and fan applause.
Final auditions were originally scheduled for last week at the Wildhorse Saloon, but the recent Nashville flooding forced the venue change to Limelight. A portion of Sunday night’s proceeds will aid in flood relief efforts through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (www.cfmt.org).
The cheerleaders will travel to Destin, Fla. later this month to shoot the team’s 2010 swimsuit calendar at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

I know what you’re thinking: FINALLY.
Yes I know it’s been weeks and weeks since Charger Girl auditions. What can I say? I have a problem.
If you knew how many times I’ve started to write this, then deleted everything and started again, you would be deeply embarrassed for me.
Some might say my goals are a wee bit unrealistic. A normal person would go into these auditions with the goal of coming back with maybe a couple dozen photos that tell the story of that year’s tryouts. Well, I’ve never been normal. In fact, I’m slightly mental. Somewhere along the way, I decided what I really need to do is get at least one good photo of every single person there. Going into it, I knew there would be at least 300 dancers in the first round. Given that I am a complete amateur when it comes to photography, there was a good chance that at least 2/3 of the photos I took would be complete garbage – too dark, too light, too blurry, eyes closed, etc. I knew I would wind up with a LOT of photos at the end of the day, and most of them would be crap.
I was right, of course.
In the end, I shot upwards of 3,000 photos, and wound up with about 1,000 for your viewing pleasure. Too many. Waaaay too many. You might want to pace yourself.
Normally at this point I would launch in to some long stream-of-consciousness narrative about my adventures that day, starting from the moment I opened my eyes in the morning. But you know what?
To heck with that.
You guys aren’t sitting on the edge of your chairs, breathless with anticipation to read all that I have to say. Nope. You guys want to see what happened. So, to that end, I’m going to get started on the photos from finals. And while I’m working on those, I hope you enjoy these shots from the first day of the 2010 San Diego Charger Girl auditions. (For the most part, the photos are in order by candidate number, so hopefully if you’re looking for someone in particular, you can go right to her. Also, please let me know if you have any corrections to the names. I scribbled them as fast as I could, but some were definitely guesses.)
MiamiDolphins.com: More than 10,000 online votes, 5,000 text messages, nine judges and 8,000 mall viewers participated and watched as the 2010 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders team was selected today. Each contestant had to compete with an individual solo and with a group performance. After eight hours of competing, 42 women were selected out of the 77 contestants.
“We are excited about the talent and quality of women that auditioned this year!” said Emily Newton, Director of Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders. “The sidelines will be full of energetic and beautiful women cheering on the Fins!”
Having Mother’s Day weekend to celebrate, the group will be back in their own version of training camp next week as the group prepares for the season and to be camera ready for the much anticipated swimsuit calendar shoot!

CAMP VICTORY, Iraq – The New Orleans Saints’ cheerleading and dance team, the Saintsations, special guests of Operation Catch Fish, provided a little piece of home to the Louisiana National Guard’s 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), at Victory Base Complex, Iraq, April, 27.
As soldiers from Louisiana’s Tiger Brigade rose with the sun to conduct their routine physical fitness training, the day started out like any other, but quickly found its own way to imprint a memory that would not be forgotten.
The dancers, Erin Buxton of Houma, La., and Jennifer Thomas of Slidell, La., dressed out in the army physical fitness uniform and literally got down and dirty as they completed various exercises to include push-ups, crunches and flutter kicks in the Iraqi dirt. Erin and Jennifer, joined by soldiers from the 256th, ended the early morning regimen with a two-mile run.
“They were very energetic and excited about doing PT with the troops,” said Sgt. Rebecca A. Farmer of Hineston, La., who was part of the group exercising with the cheerleaders.
“They had no issues hitting the dirt like the rest of us. In fact, I think they handled it better than some of the Soldiers did,” the fuel database processer joked. “It was good to see how genuine they were about bringing up the morale.”
After incorporating themselves into one of the morning exercise routines, Jennifer and Erin spoke in amazement of the camaraderie of the group during their morning workout.
“Everyone was so supportive of each other,” Jennifer explained. “They were constantly encouraging each other, and checking on each other during the run. If one person would have stopped, everyone would have. We all started and ended the run together, and that was great.”
Along with conducting the physical fitness training with the soldiers, Jennifer and Erin toured various places in Iraq and visited as many service members as time would allow while on their tour.
With this being both dancers first trip to Iraq, they took the opportunity to express their appreciation for deployed soldiers and the sacrifices they make.
“This tour was a huge learning experience for me,” Erin said. “I have a newfound love and respect for people in the military. I feel like I just got here, and I’m not ready to leave.”
“This has been a life-changing experience. I have been truly inspired and humbled,” added Jennifer as she gave her heartfelt appreciation for the armed forces. “Everyone kept thanking us for coming, but we don’t deserve the ‘thank you’; these guys do. Every time I heard it, I wanted to say it back a million times more.”
Erin and Jennifer continued their day’s journey with a visit to soldiers at the 256th IBCT headquarters on Camp Liberty.
Many 256th soldiers take their Saints’ loyalty to the extreme. By doing what they do best, the Saintsations cheered on the Tiger Brigade, reminding them that their favorite sports team has not forgotten Louisiana Troops.
Echoes of “Who Dat!” were repeated across the room by the Louisiana soldiers, while displaying their own form of team spirit by brandishing a Saints patch on underlying collars of uniforms just for the occasion. “Wow! This is really nice!” expressed Brigade Executive Officer Lt. Col. Scott E. Adams from Hammond, La.
Spc. Lester P. Broussard from Lafayette, La., a logistics specialist with Headquarters and Company, proudly exhibited his Saints tattoo for Erin. “I am the biggest fan ever,” exclaimed Broussard. “It was just too much that the ladies came to visit.”
The visit from the dancers not only brought familiarity to the deployed soldiers, but also renewed their passion for the upcoming football season.
“They were so much fun, and really brought with them the ‘Who Dat Nation’ attitude,” said Saints fan and logistics operations officer, CW3 Dale D. Poe of Pineville, La. “I can’t wait to watch the first game of the season.”

The Broncos have narrowed it down to 65 finalists for the 2010 team. Now they’re giving all of us a chance to weigh in on the final decision. There are a lot lot LOT of talented dancers in the mix. There are about 15 DBC veterans fighting to stay on the team. In addition to that, there are several veterans of other area pro teams like the Colorado Crush, Colorado Mammoth, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Eagles, Denver Outlaws, and Denver Nuggets Dancers. And then on top of that, there are veterans of other teams from the East Coast (Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic) and the West Coast (LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Seattle Seahawks) and ranging from the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers to the Orlando Magic. And lets not forget the girls coming fresh off of competition-level college dance teams. This competition is no joke. No wonder they want some help with the judging. Click here to go to the voting page. You can read a few words about each candidate and then select up to 26 dancers as your choice for the team.
As for me, I for darn sure am voting for Nikki Boole. Nikki was a member of the Clippers Spirit dance team (one of my favorite dance teams ever). She’s a great dancer and a really sweet girl. Knock ’em dead, Nikki!

The young lady below is a cheerleader for the Denver Broncos. I can scarce believe my eyes – the DBC rocked the blue top and white, fringed, star-spangled vest before the Cowboys Cheerleaders did it? Who knew?
