Seahawks.com cracked open the vault to share with us this video of the Sea Gals show group, circa 1990. This is a must-see. It’s a high-energy performance to such hits as “Can’t Touch This,” “Rhythm Nation,” “Mony Mony,” as well as tunes from “A Chorus Line” and a patriotic medley. I’m talking bike shorts, the running man, a baton twirler, old school bulls-eye poms, and paper-bag waisted jeans. They even did a pyramid and some tumbling. And through it all there not one belly button in sight. Boy howdy, times have changed. Click here to watch!

The arenafootball2 (af2) league and one of its new partners, Aaron’s, are pleased to announce an exciting new addition to this year’s ArenaCup festivities – the Aaron’s af2 Dream Team. The 2009 Aaron’s af2 Dream Team will be involved in ArenaCup10 activities including performing during halftime of the championship game and appearances throughout the weekend of events. The team will be a special 12-member group comprised of dance team standouts from around the af2.
With so many stellar dance team participants in the league, narrowing the field down to a dozen is a tough task. Therefore, the af2 and Aaron’s are enlisting the help of the fans. Beginning in May, a national online promotion called “Vote for your Favorite Aaron’s af2 Dancer” will be conducted where fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dancer. The top 12 dancers with the most fan votes will represent this year’s 2009 Aaron’s af2 Dream Team at ArenaCup10 in August.
“We’re very pleased that Aaron’s has partnered with the af2,” said af2 President Jerry Kurz. “We are equally excited about the upcoming Aaron’s Dream Team promotion and how the addition of this special group will enhance our annual ArenaCup festivities.”
Out of hundreds of dancers performing throughout the league, the final field of 24 that will be voted on are listed below:
Jenny – Albany Firebirds
Ali – Amarillo Dusters
Sara Beth – Arkansas Twisters
Shellie – Boise Burn
Lorene – Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings
Zhanette – Central Valley Coyotes

The Major League Soccer season is well underway. FC Dallas has had a bit of a slow start this season, but the ladies on their dance team are having no such problem. Dance team director Tamara Jenkins reports that the newly minted FC Dallas Dancers have really hit their stride. The Dancers, who perform at every home game and make appearances throughout the community, have been well received by fans. It will be fun to follow them through the season and watch the team develop.
Check out these photos of the dance team in action at Pizza Hut Park. No kidding – that’s the name of the place! (It’s right between the Papa John’s Pavilion and the Domino’s Dome. Hardy har har.)

On Saturday, April 4th, 141 talented women between the ages of 18 and 39 showed up at the doors of Winter Park to compete for 30 spots on the 2009 Minnesota Vikings Cheerleading team.
The day started off at 9:00 a.m. and wrapped up about 7:00 p.m…that is one long day of dancing and cheering! Throughout the day, the ladies had the opportunity to show off their skills. The women were taught two dance routines, a cheer, and kick routine by Sarah (2009 MVC Pro Bowl Representative), Emily (Alumni Vikings Cheerleader), and Brianna (MVC Assistant Coach).
Making cuts was tough for the panel of judges. Tami (MVC Head Coach) commented that this was the most talented group of women she has ever seen at Open Auditions, and that there were many tough decisions that had to be made. As the day came to a close, 63 women were selected to move on to Training Camp, Semi-Finals, and Finals.
These 63 women are now participating in a two week Training Camp. They are perfecting the routines they learned at Open Auditions, as well as learning new material, choreographing their own solo routine, and rehearsing their personal introductions. The women will be performing their routines at Semi-finals, where they will also participate in a swimsuit competition. Finals will be held at the Mall of America in the rotunda on Tuesday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. We would love to have you come and cheer us on! See you there! Go Vikes!
Auditions are over, and the Arizona Cardinals have selected their 2009-2010 cheerleaders. There are 17 rookies in this year’s group. One of the newbies, Rachel, is a transplant from the Jacksonville Jaguars Cheerleaders.
MiamiDolphins.com: Welcome to the official 2009 Select The Top Rookie Cheerleaders contest. Here’s your opportunity to help decide which rookies will make the final 2009 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders squad. Dol-Fans can submit a maximum of ten (10) selections for their favorite rookie cheerleader candidates. The finalists with the most votes will receive an extra 15 points on the judges scorecards. One lucky participating fan selected at random will win the opportunity to attend the 2009 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Squad photo shoot and have his/her photo taken with the entire team!
Don’t miss your opportunity to see the Final Auditions at the Aventura Mall, located at 19501 Biscayne Boulevard in Aventura, Fla. The phone number for the mall is (305) 935-1110. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! The competition begins at 10:00 a.m. Join us and see if your favorite makes the cut!

MVC Training Program Wrap-Up

In June of last year about 30 vivacious women met at Winter Park with the Training Program coaches Beth and Erin, eager to begin a full year of preparation for 2009 open auditions. As we entered the season we were exposed to many different dance routines with unique choreography as well as intense, but fun, fitness training. All 30 of us young women came from different places, with different experiences in dance or cheer but we all shared the same goal: to become a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader for the best team in the NFL.
Every Tuesday we met for practice at Winter Park with two extremely talented and motivating coaches. Each week we received encouraging feedback to help us better our dancing, fitness, and overall “MVC style.” Some of the most memorable moments about Training Program this year include being privileged to do performances in front of an audience, becoming close friends with some extraordinary young women, being coached by a very dedicated coaching staff, and sharing the love for football by attending games with the TP girls.
As the season comes to an end with tryouts just around the corner, the stress is on, and we can all feel it. We had the opportunity to perform this past weekend at the 2009 MVC workshop. Although the tension is building, the team as a whole is very well prepared and excited to take on the challenge at 2009 open auditions.
