The Philadelphia Spinners played their inaugural game on Saturday, April 14th at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The Spinners defeated the visiting BUffalo hunters 26-14, while the Spinners Dance Team, The Fly Girls entertained the fans with performances, T-shirt tosses and they even helped get the giant beach ball back into the stands.
What’s the secret to a successful sports franchise?
The answer is Cheerleaders/Dancers.
We’ve covered dance teams from football, arena football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, indoor soccer, rugby, tennis and now ultimate! (Some of you may know the sport as ultimate frisbee, but because of trademark issues the preferred shorthand name is now just ultimate.)
The Philadelphia Spinners are a new team in the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) and this past Sunday they had a team photo shoot in the steps of the Art Museum. (You know, the steps that Rocky runs up.)
And of course the Spinners dance team, the Fly Girls were there as well.
The Philadelphia Spinners are a new team in the American Ultimate Disc League (Yes, it’s Ultimate Frisbee). And good friends of the blog, Adrienne Santoleri and Tori Closson of Arena Dance Pros have been asked to direct the Philadelphia Spinners dance team the “Fly Girls”. Fly Girl auditions are being held on Saturday, March 3 9:00am-2:00pm. Location TBD, but are possibly being held at American Dance Academy in Hockessin, DE. For more details contact Arena Dance Pros.
