The Capitals have posted new videos of the Red Rockers Auditions and photo shoot:
The Washington Capitals and the Washington Wizards had the same ownership so it’s no surprise that our good friend Derric Whitfield who’s been running the Wizards Girls will now be even busier as he is now also the choreographer for the Red Rockers.
Congratulations to the 2013-14 Red Rockers who were selected Sunday afternoon after a long weekend of auditions. Good friend of UC and Wizards Dance Team Manager, Derric Whitfield was on hand to teach the girls the choreography. (The Wizards and Caps have the same ownership and both play in the Verizon Center.)
Hockey is back. The Tampa Bay Lightning Girls were out this past Sunday to welcome fans back for the 2013 abbreviated season which will start this coming Saturday at home versus the Washington Capitals. Hooray!!

Kristina, Becca, and Christie. You gotta love a girl in a bird hat.
The Washington Capitals Red Rockers are a high-energy spirit squad that interacts with the crowd to ensure that all Caps fans have the ultimate game experience. They were nice enough to share a few photos with us.

I can always rely on our loyal readers to help me out. Here’s our newly updated list:
Kristie was a Washington Wizards Girl and is a current Washington Capitals Red Rocker. She’s worked on Capitol Hill for six years. And in bit of Cheerleader serendipity, Congressman Bob Brady (see below) is her boss.
Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader Natalie is the deputy press secretary for the Georgia General Assembly. She previously served as communications specialist for Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue in Atlanta. During her three-year tenure in Governor Perdue’s office, Natalie acted as spokesperson for First Lady Mary Perdue and assistant to the Governor’s Press Secretary, serving as a liaison between the Governor’s office and national and international media.
Virginia First Lady Maureen McDonnell is a former Washington Redskins Cheerleader.
Debra Brady (seen here with husband and Congressman Bob Brady) cheered for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jeanette Dousdebes-Rubio (seen here with husband and Senator-elect Marco Rubio) is a former Miami Dolphins Cheerleader.
Dr. Jennifer Horrell, the wife of three-term Missouri State Representative and 2008 Democratic nominee for Lt. Governor Dr. Sam Page, cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the back of my mind I remember an Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader who ran for the Georgia General Assembly, but can’t seem to locate any record of this. Any help tracking this down, or other suggestions to the list are welcome.
The Baltimore Mariners Cheerleaders have a new name, new uniform, new director and back on January 31st they picked their new 2010 squad.
The New Director is good friend of the blog Elizabeth “Liz” Guardalo, who also taught the choreography for the tryouts.
Heather Jessee (right) and Liz. Heather danced for the Wizards and cheered for the Redskins, representing her squad at the 1999 Pro Bowl. She was also coach of the UMBC Dance Team where she coached Liz.
In addition to the performing the routine, hopefuls performed a kickline and answered interview questions from the judges.
The judges from left to right: Meghann: former UMBC Dance Team, Heather, Rachel: former Baltimore Blast Cheerleader, Kristen: Redskins Ambassador and Capitals Red Rocker, Ashley: current Baltimore Blast Cheerleader, David: Commissioner of the ISL (Bermuda’s Island Soccer League)
The new squad will make their debut at the Mariner’s first home game on Sunday, March 14th.
The Washington Capitals unveiled the new website for the Washington Red Rockers. There are bios, photos and video interviews with all the squad members.
The Choreographer for the Red Rockers is Sarah Davis, the captain of the 2008-09 squad. Sara is a graduate of George Mason University where she was a member of their nationally ranked dance team, the Masonettes. During her 4 years in college, she also served on the Universal Dance Association staff as an instructor and judge. After college, Sarah spent on year as Washington Wizards Dance Team before becoming a member of the Red Rockers.
Auditions for the Washington Capitals Red Rockers were last week, and the new squad of 14 has been announced. There are eight returning vets and six rookies. Not all vets who re-auditioned made it through the three-day audition process.
