Halloween Cheerleader Photos from Around the Internet

It’s a wonderful time of the year with the rare confluence of professional football, baseball, basketball and hockey.  One thing all these sports have in common is…cheerleaders.  And Halloween brings out the best in terms of fun and creativity.  So let’s take a look at what our beloved cheerleaders and dancers are doing to celebrate this venerable and festive holiday.

Isn’t social media wonderful?

Washington Capitals Red Rockers Auditions

When/where are the auditions?

The 2017-18 Red Rockers Auditions will take place at Verizon Center and the adjacent VIDA Fitness.  Day 1 of auditions is on Sunday, July 30.  Selected finalists will participate in a group practice at VIDA Fitness during the first week of August.  Those finalists will then return to Verizon Center on Saturday, August 5th, for formal interviews at a TBD time and a subsequent group performance..

What do I need to bring/wear to auditions?
Day 1: Resume and headshot if you did not previously register. Please wear form-fitting pants, a form-fitting top (crop-top—top that exposes the midriff—works as well), and athletic sneakers.

Practices: Finalists will be asked to take part in mandatory dance practices, where they will learn the final routine.

Finals: Finalists will return for an interview and further physical activity, so please wear business attire and BRING form-fitting gear, similar to Day 1.

How should I wear my hair and makeup?

The Red Rockers wear full hair and makeup on game days and to external events. Hair is to be completely down, and full stage makeup is required with red lipstick. Nails are to be clean and either clear/neutral color, or French manicure. Body jewelry is strictly prohibited (this includes belly rings, tongue rings, nose rings, eye brow rings, etc.) Wedding/Engagement rings are acceptable. Tattoos must be completely covered, either by clothing or by application of makeup.

Do I need to bring skates or any other equipment?

No, skating experience is not required, nor will it be tested during auditions. However, the ability to skate is a plus and will be noted in the interview process.

Do I need to have dance/cheer experience to audition?

While dance and cheer experience is not required, applicants will be graded on their enthusiasm and their ability to learn and perform simple routines.

Are the Red Rockers paid?

Members of the Red Rockers will be paid for their work at games and outside events. The squad is a part-time position, and so members may hold full-time jobs and/or attend college while on the team.

Are there any height or weight requirements?

There are no specific height or weight requirements. However, uniforms consist of form-fitting tops and pants, and so an athletic appearance is necessary.

The Washington Capitals and the Washington Wizards had the same ownership so it’s no surprise that our good friend Derric Whitfield who’s been running the Wizards Girls will now be even busier as he is now also the choreographer for the Red Rockers.
