Ben-Gal Cheerleaders to be Featured in Designer Swimsuit Fashion Show

Cincinnati’s NFL cheer squad will work the runway in couture swimsuits from NYC-based designer

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 30, 2010 – Cincinnati, OH — Summer is officially here and vacation season is revving up, which means the search for the perfect swimsuit begins. That’s why Cincy Chic (www.cincychic.com), the only online publication for women in Greater Cincinnati, is hosting a couture swimsuit fashion show featuring the “Ben-Gals,” cheerleaders of the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals, and New York City based designer Anne Pachan’s collection “Cala Ossidiana”.

The event will take place on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Cincinnati Tan Company in West Chester (8179 Princeton Glendale Rd.) beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the fashion show kicked off at 8 p.m. The event will also feature various local vendors, who will provide mini treatments, product samples and discounted shopping opportunities. Vendors include: Votre Vue by Julena Bingaman, Perfections Salon, Flocktails and Booty Parlors by Shannon Fink.

“Our entire staff can’t wait for this event. It’s such an honor to feature NFL cheerleaders from Cincinnati and have the opportunity to bring couture swimwear designer Anne Pachan to Cincinnati from New York City,” says Cincy Chic Publisher Amy Storer-Scalia. “Anne just recently debuted her designs at Cincinnati Fashion week, so we’re excited to bring her back to the Queen City with our event.”

The event is free for all to attend, and no RSVP is necessary. The Wise Owl will provide food and drinks and DJ Storm Bennet of Killerspots.com will provide music. An after party will take place at the Wise Owl.

Wizard Girls Auditions: Part Five

After the bikini and uniform photo shoots, the hopefuls put on their audition outfits. Sunday afternoon the dancers would learn sideline routines taught by Wizard Girl Alumni. For the final audition they would perform not only the sideline routines, but the two routines taught on Saturday.

Alumni Heather (Redskins Pro Bowl Cheerleader) and Natalie (SD Charger Girl) taught some of the sideline routines.

Michelle is graduate of James Madison University where she earned her degree in dietetics. She works for the Center for Eating Disorders and cheered for the Baltimore Blast and Baltimore Mariners this past season.

Local woman joins Atlanta Hawks’ dance team

After attending her first Atlanta Hawks basketball game during the playoffs against the Orlando Magic earlier this year, one local woman — with a little prodding from her boyfriend — decided to try out for the A-Town Dance team.

Andrea Phillips, 21, of Warner Robins, who goes by Andi, saw the dancers during the game and mentioned to Daniel Erligh, her boyfriend, that she’d like to do that. He told her she should try out.

“While we were sitting there watching the dancers (at the game), it just clicked that she looks like she should be out there,” Erligh said.

Phillips found out the afternoon of June 20 that she made the team — coincidentally, two years to the day that she and Erligh met.

“I was shocked I made it through the first cut,” she said.

Erligh, she said, is thrilled for her.

“He is my main supporter,” Phillips said.

Erligh, 27, was with Phillips when she got the call.

After a thumbs-up sign from Phillips, Erligh said he let out a yell before she even got off of the phone.

Her mother, Kris McMahan, is also very proud of her daughter.

“We’re just tickled pink,” McMahan said.

Phillips, a Warner Robins High School graduate, is a pre-nursing student at Georgia Military College. She’s also a lifeguard at Robins Air Force Base. Her goal is to become an orthopedic nurse.

“I just love the bones,” Phillips said. “I know it’s really random.”

When Phillips gets the practice schedule, she plans to commute to Atlanta from her Warner Robins home.

Phillips started dancing when she was younger and was a cheerleader at Warner Robins Middle School for three years, as well as in ninth grade at Warner Robins High School. She has been out of the dancing loop for about five or six years.

She competed against more than 200 girls, according to McMahan. The final tryout had 52 contestants, and 18 were chosen. Only half of last year’s squad made the team this year.

“I just feel very blessed,” Phillips said.

P-R-O 2010: The Denver Nuggets Dancers

First visit to the P-R-O Convention Denver Nuggets Dancers. On the left is Nuggets Dancers Director Amy Jo Wagner. I didn’t recognize her at first. She looks like she should still be dancing at USA Airways Center for the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Rattlers and Phoenix Mercury.

Joining Amy Jo on the trip was two-year veteran and team officer Krista.

The Nuggets Dancers are offering the widest and most comprehensive set of audition prep classes that I’ve come across. Nutrition, make-up, choreography, even resume writing. The classes run to mid-August and then auditions begin Saturday, August 14th.
