Long Island Lizards Dance Team
The East Coast is in the grips of a heatwave. In the middle of this stifling heat the MLL Long Island Lizards Dance Team, armed with sunblock and plenty of fluids, took to the field for a 3pm(!) game this past Saturday.
The LI Lizards Dance Team finds a few moments of relief in the shade. There was no shade on the sidelines or on the field, where the team performed 4(!) times.
Shuart Stadium, the Lizards home, has artificial turf. So the field really heated up. Combine that with the fact that the bottoms of the dancers’ boots are black, and you can imagine the conditions.
Megan stepped up as Dance Team Coach this season, while last year’s coach, Danielle, concentrates on her upcoming wedding. Megan works in banking also teaches dance.
Nora is captain of the team and in her fourth season on the squad. She’s pursuing a career as an actress and singer in Manhattan.
Casey is a HS dance team coach and is starting Radiology school in the Fall.
Alicia is an accountant. She graduated from Manhattan College and was on the school dance team.
Randi is a three-year vet, but took the 2009 season off. She teaches pre-school for children with autism.
