Vintage Vikings
Sidebar: On the one hand, they did get to wear some of the old uniforms. On the other hand, they didn’t get to wear all of them, and they didn’t get to wear them for the game. I know for sure they’ve got a shiny gold two-piece somewhere in the old costume closet. (Sigh) If there is a person in the world more disappointed about this than I am, I’d like to know who it is. ~ sasha

Seven lucky MVC had the honor of being a part of the Vikings 50th
Anniversary celebration that recognized the 50 greatest Vikings
players. The event took place at the Minneapolis Convention Center the
night before the Vikings took on the Chicago Bears at the TCF Bank
Stadium. Meghan, Kristina, Rachel, Nikki, Ali, Amanda, and Alissa had
the opportunity to escort the 50 players, one by one, as they were
introduced on stage and recognized for their accomplishments while with
the team.
Since the last game of the season was supposed to be all about
celebrating the Vikings’ 50th season, the MVC had plans to wear different
costumes from the 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s. With the collapse of the Dome
and the game needing to be played outdoors, we were unable to wear these
costumes for the game, so this event was the perfect place to showcase
them!
Nikki and Rachel wore costumes from the 80’s, which were the
first years of the official MVC.
Meghan and Ali rocked it out in two
of our 90’s costumes,
while Amanda and Alissa represented costumes from the early and mid 00’s.
Lastly, we had Kristina (our Pro Bowl
Cheerleader!) wearing our current uniform…”Helga”.
We all felt so
honored to be in the presence of some of the best players to ever play
the game, and felt so lucky to be able to be a part of this historical
event.
