Redskins Cheerleader 10-Year Veteran & Captain Jamilla Says Farewell
So last week I posted a few goodbyes from retiring Redskins Cheerleaders. Well here’s the biggest retirement of them all.

Hello Redskins Nation –
It truly has been an honor to be a part of the best team in the NFL, and I am blessed to say that I am retiring after 10 wonderful years as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader. Being a part of the team went beyond my wildest dreams, and I cherish each and every moment of this journey. I had the chance to fulfill so many dreams in such a short amount of time, travel the world, inspire others – young and old, and dance as if no one was watching. But of course there were 90,000 plus fans watching each and every home game at FedExField , and many more from home.
It is hard to imagine not being on the sideline with my fellow teammates this upcoming season, but I will always shake my pom poms cheering on my favorite team and teammates. I first have to thank my current director, Stephanie Jojokian, and former directors, Donald Wells and Melanie Coburn for taking a chance on a young lady from Newport News, VA to be a part of such a special experience. I also want to thank all the Sideline Assistants, and special thanks to my ”mom-on-the-sideline”, Maddie for all her support.
Being a Washington Redskins Cheerleader is so much more than shaking your pom poms on the sideline. It is a sisterhood that is indescribable , it is a way to touch many lives in the DC Metropolitan community, across the country, and also overseas, and it is an experience packed full of wonderful memories. I want to give a special shout out to all the men and women that sacrifice their lives for the freedoms of our country. You guys Rock!!, and I always jumped at the opportunity to bring a piece of home to you, and I want you all to get home safely.
To my babies, the First “Little” Ladies of Football, the Junior Redskins Cheerleaders, you inspire me each and every Saturday we meet for practice, and I love watching you guys perform your halftime shows at FedExField. Thank you for all your hard work over the years and all the laughter and smiles that go with it. The great thing about this experience is that I will get to see you guys for years to come, and watch you grow into beautiful young ladies.
As I embark on a new chapter in life, I will always take a piece of each of the 150 ladies that I had the pleasure to grace the sidelines with in 10 seasons. It was great to grow together, laugh and cry together and know that I have lots of sisters to lean on. “Once A Redskins Cheerleader, Always A Redskins Cheerleader”.
My biggest Thank you goes to my friends and family! Mom, Dad, Sister & Nephew thanks for all your love, understanding & support and the long rides in the car from Newport News, VA to be here to support me. To all my Friends, you know who you are, you guys have been my rock through it all and I want to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Last but not least, REDSKINS FANS! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS! Thank you for all hugs and kisses on the sideline, and love from afar. The Redskins will always have a special place in my heart, and although you might not see me on the sidelines, I will still be in the building so keep a lookout for me! And here is my famous quote that I have said from the beginning of this journey…”Don’t Cry Because It’s Over, Smile Because It Happened!”
Live, Love, Laugh… and Always Dance!
