Sea Gals Bring Cheer to Home and Garden Show
Hundreds Line Up to Get Their Photos Taken With Christian and Laura
As a wrap up to another successful Nisqually Valley Home and Garden Show, Sea Gals Christian and Laura posed for photographs with fans from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, and included a stroll through the many vendor booths.
The Gals were a hit with attendees, getting hundreds of photos taken with adoring fans, from a baby girl dressed as a Seahawk cheerleader to families sporting their best Hawk gear to smiling gentlemen in their 80s.
The photo shoots were part of the Yelm Lions Club booth, sponsored by the Yelm Area Chamber of Commerce, and coordinated by the Nisqually Valley News staff. Photos can be seen at the Yelm Lions Club Facebook page.
Christian made the Sea Gal squad about a year ago, before she had graduated high school.
“My parents have been Seahawks season ticket holders for as long as I can remember,” Christian said, as quoted in the Nisqually Valley News special home and garden section. “When we would go to games I would always just watch the Sea Gals, not the game, so I counted down the years until I could try out to be a Sea Gal.”
The University of Washington student has been dancing since she was 3 years old, and hopes to continue to be a part of the Sea Gals through college.
“My all-time favorite moments are game days, hands down. It was so surreal because I had watched them for so long growing up,” she said. “I remember that feeling the first time of being in the tunnel looking up and waiting to go out; my heart was pounding. To look up in the stands and see my family there was even better.”
She had quite a rookie year with the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win, yet Laura, a Washington State University graduate, also has an interesting perspective as she has been a Sea Gal for four years.
“My rookie year was the same year as Pete Carroll’s first year coaching so this year especially was so emotional for me. I’ve been there and seen everything build up to this point, watched the team getting better and better,” Laura said. “I will never forget that last play in the NFC championship game; I’ve never felt so much emotion. The energy in the stadium was unreal. It means so much to see the team and the fans get to this point. What an organization and an amazing time to be dancing for the Seahawks; I feel so blessed.
“I’m glad that I’ve seen the build up of this over the past four years,” Laura continued. “Just getting to the Super Bowl, I was so excited to go, and then winning like that was just beyond anything I could have anticipated.”
