Three Cheers: North Attleboro, Seekonk Women Make the Cut to Become New England Patriots Cheerleaders

Two women from the Attleboro area have been selected for the 2014 New England Patriots cheerleaders.

Mary Babbit of North Attleboro and Kristen Sherrerd of Seekonk are part of the 28-member squad chosen from about 320 women who tried out in open audition period in early April.

The final step of the audition process, a two-week boot camp which concluded May 3, included intensive training sessions involving rigorous fitness and physical training, choreography, public speaking exercises and promotional appearance training drills. The team is comprised of 11 rookies and 17 veteran cheerleaders. Their hometowns represent four of the six New England states and the squad includes transplants from New Jersey, Texas, Arizona and California.

Other women from Massachusetts and Rhode Island who made the squad include Amber Smith of Norwood, Brittany Dickie of Woonsocket, Alexandria Stavropoulos of Needham, Erica Cadigan of Medfield, Leigha Marie Hervey of Rutland, Jacqueline Jamiel, Kikco McMahan of Boston, Hannah LeBeau of Auburn, Michelle Nigro of Swampscott, Jensine Rich of Framingham, Amanda Soucy of North Reading, and Jacqueline Jamiel of Yarmouth.

The squad includes a range of students and professionals, including a Harvard grad, a neuroscience PhD candidate, a business banking officer, a culinary student and a dentist.
