Meet Jessica: Colts Cheerleader of the Week
From Colts.com
Hey Colts Fans! How exciting was that big win on Sunday?! My name is Jessica and I’m ecstatic to be your Cheerleader of the Week.
This is my first year as a Colts Cheerleader and it has already been an amazing ride! I dreamed for years that the day would come and I would be a part of this wonderful organization. With just 3 home games left I cannot believe how quickly this season has gone by, but I have loved every second of it! As a graduate from the University of Louisville, I am ecstatic to be adding a little Colts blue to my Louisville family and friends’ wardrobes back home. I was a member of the 13-time National Champion Louisville Ladybird for four years, this is where my love for performing in front of thousands of fans flourished! Colts Nation has welcomed with me open arms and I now call Indy, home!
I would like to say a huge thank you to my parents for their love and support! I owe it all to you, Mom and Dad! This year my entire family and all my friends have shown exactly why they are so close to my heart. I also want to thank my SRS (my Senior Ladybird class), for driving hours to cheer me on at auditions, coming to games, and for supporting me in everything I do! Last, but certainly not least I want to thank my Cheer sisters who push me to be better every single day. This season has been so memorable because of you! I am so blessed with an amazing support system in Louisville and Indianapolis that is continuously growing! It’s safe to say that my rookie year will be one for the books!
In addition to being a real estate student, you recently purchased a historic home built in 1850. What made you interested in real estate?
My love for homes started when I was just a little girl. My mom and I would go on road trips to visit family and I would always have my notepad and colored pencils right by my side. I still to this day love driving around in new cities looking at homes. I’ve been told that the Midtown Holiday Home Tour is a must see, so I’ve recently added it to my list of things to see in Indy! The Colts played the Denver Broncos this past Sunday. What do you love most about cheering for such big games?
Wow, where do I even start… BEST DAY EVER! Not only was it a huge WIN against the Broncos, but we honored our Military service men and women on Sunday. Both of my parents retired from the Army with over 20 years of service to our country! I will never pass up a moment to say “thank you” to anyone who has served this amazing country! There were two moments that took my breath away. First, during the National Anthem when Challenger took flight. The feeling that overcame my body was indescribable, I was smiling ear to ear and just loved hearing the crowd’s reaction! Second, once the game was over and we circled up as a team. We pray when we win and we pray when we lose. (Even though a win feels much better) It’s a time that we come together as cheer sisters and reflect on what happened during the game. We are so grateful for what we have been given and not only are we proud of our boys in blue but all the women and men who have and are currently serving our country!
Being a Colts Cheer rookie, your hardest adjustment had to be…
The hardest adjustment for me has been moving cities. I have lived in Louisville my whole life and never thought I would move away, but starting in March I was making the drive to Indy once and sometimes twice a week. I was hoping and praying that come April I would be a Colts Cheerleader and then officially became an Indianapolis resident on July 1st! Here we are already into November and Indy is where I now call home.
You are born, raised and were commuting from Louisville, KY. What is your favorite thing to do back home?
My absolute favorite thing to do when I go back home is cheer on my Cards at Papa John’s Stadium! Louisville Football is here my love for the game began and will always hold a special place in my heart. Go Cards! How do you plan on spending the bye-week?
I actually have a busy week ahead of me. I am fortunate enough to spend a few days in Louisville! I am so excited to spend Veterans Day with my Momma! Every year we attend an Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon. Also, I am finally going to my first Louisville Football game of the season! Two amazing events that I have been looking forward to for weeks. My days in between will spent resting and practicing for our next home game against the Buccaneers! See you in a few weeks Lucas Oil!
