Atlanta Hawks To Host Open Call For Talent To Join ATL Dancers at Auditions on June 2

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Hawks will host an open call audition for the ATL Hawks Dancers at State Farm Arena this Sunday, June 2. The nationally recognized dance squad is looking for new members in advance of the the 2019-20 season. Along with performing at the Hawks 41 home games, the dancers are also highly visible community ambassadors, making appearances at a wide variety of events including festivals, corporate functions and schools.

“Serving as an ATL Hawks Dancer is an exciting opportunity both personally and professionally,” said Donni Frazier, Hawks’ director of fan experience. “While the team is a huge part of the game experience, they are very closely connected with the Atlanta community, and also receive exposure on a national and international scale.”

During the extensive audition process, the judges will be looking for performers with exceptional technical dance skills, exude confidence and enjoy being on a fun, impactful team. Aspiring dancers will have the opportunity to train with some of the top dance professionals in the country and participate in a variety of fitness boot camps, practices and a mixer for finalists to meet the Hawks’ fan base leading up to their final audition.

Over the last season, the ATL Hawks Dancers have performed with GRAMMY® Award-winning singer Ciara during the first-ever Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest at State Farm Arena and created a custom dance challenge around Billboard HOT 100 Chart’s number 1 song “Old Town Road” by Atlanta rapper Lil Nas X.

The squad is a part of Hawks Entertainment which also includes other fan favorites such as Harry the Hawk, Silver Classix Crew, ATL Boom, A-Town Breakers, The A-Team and ATL Stunt Team.

Pro Cheerleading Podcast – Protesting the Elimination of NBA Dance Teams

For all you fans of professional cheerleading, check out the latest episode of the Pro Cheerleading Podcast.  Brittany and Mhkeeba, two former Seattle Sea Gals, review the latest developments in the professional cheerleading world and this week they discuss the disappointing news that the Sacramento Kings Dancers and the Dallas Maverick Dancers have eliminated their pro dance teams in exchange for a hip-hop focused co-ed dance and entertainment crew.

They have a unique perspective on the subject matter and discuss the reasons why these changes were implemented.  The latter portion of their podcast includes an in depth interview with four members of the Sacramento Kings Dancers, who discuss the circumstances surrounding the demise of their squad.

This is certainly a must listen to podcast for all of us who enjoy and support professional cheerleading.
