NY UnOfficials Cheerleaders Rock the Meadowlands for Giants Fans
First some history—before I relocated to Tampa I was a life long season ticket holder for the Giants. Never saw a NFL Cheerleader during the Mara reign. Came to Tampa during the football dry spell and found myself in the front row at end of games which launched my NFL Cheerleaders Photography Life.
BACK TO THE FUTURE. Last weekend I took a trip up to NY to see the new stadiums, Yankees/Rays on Friday and Giants/Bucs on Sunday. Lo and behold I run across the Gotham City Dancers (aka NY UnOfficials) performing in the Met Life Stadium tailgate areas. These young ladies definitely fill a niche with numerous appearances in the Metro area rooting on the G-Men. They are led by founder and executive director Ana De Villegas, as well as Christie Artinger and Jack Sayegh. Ana cheered for the Washington Redskins and Christie cheered for the Jets and also as a San Diego Charger Girl. In spite of space restrictions, and music on the fly, the team performed a couple nice routines in the parking lot. They gladly posed for photos with the juniors and seniors. It was cute seeing such a diverse demographics group jockeying for their attention. Camera’s were snapping and videos recording as these women are very popular with the Giants fans.
Ana is very passionate working with the girls and her love of performing can be seen in the mission statement: “Aim to inspire and motivate young women to pursue dance and dance education. Our belief is that dance does change the world and sports entertainment is a major influence for women”. The team motto is “IT IS NOT A GAME”.
Cheers to the gals as they continue to showcase their talents to a much appreciative game-day audience. Hopefully someday we can drop the Un from their name. Enjoy the photos.
