Jasmine Martijn Named Director of The New Orleans VooDoo Dolls

The New Orleans VooDoo named former VooDoo Doll Jasmine Martijn the Director of the VooDoo Dolls, announced the front office on Monday morning.

“This is an exciting opportunity and it is something I have always wanted to do,” said Martijn. “I cannot wait to get to work, and to select the 2013 VooDoo Doll dance team. I look forward to tryouts!”

Martijn’s appointment came as Tamica Lee resigned from the position last week.

“We are extremely excited about having Jasmine back with us and in this role. She brings a lot of positive energy and excitement and is going to lead our 2013 VooDoo Dolls with class and integrity,” said Mary Ann Newman, who oversees the Dolls for the New Orleans VooDoo. “As a dancer, we were very impressed with Jasmine and we know that we will be impressed with her as a director.”

Jasmine is a former VooDoo Doll of three seasons, and was an inaugural Doll in 2004. She also served as a Doll in 2005 and was a captain and represented the VooDoo Dolls on the Dream Team at ArenaBowl XXIV in 2011. She is also a former Georgia Force cheerleader where she cheered after Hurricane Katrina in the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Martijn has 15 years of professional dance experience ranging in Hip Hop, Jazz, Latin, and Samba. She has also danced in national music videos, danced on BET’s comic view Pardi Gras Special as well as Super Bowl Special, and danced on the E! Entertainment Special “In the Big Easy”.

The New Orleans native has served as co choreographer/instructor for cheer and dance camps, and also served as Executive Manager for Toni B’s DIVA Entertainment Productions in New Orleans from 1999-2005.

Martijn attended Southeastern Louisiana University studying Health Promotion/Exercise Science. She also attended Blue Cliff College where she earned her Massage Therapy Certification and currently is a Certified LMT.
