Chiefs Shock the Chargers on a Last Minute Field Goal
[This article was originally published on Thehottestdanceteam.wordpress.com.]
You couldn’t have asked for a more exciting game with a last minute field goal deciding the outcome. Unfortunately for Charger fans, you could have asked for a better outcome as it was the Chiefs who kicked the winning 48 yard field goal to end the Chargers five game win streak.
Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith deftly managed the ebb and flow of the game, passing for an efficient 221 yards and a touchdown on 19 of 28 passes. Jamaal Charles added 95 yards on the ground and the Chiefs defense held the Chargers to 251 total net yards.
Final Score: Chiefs – 23 Chargers – 20.
All good things come to an end, like five game winning streaks. But as far as the Charger Girls and their fans are concerned…the good times continue to roll!
The Charger Girls changed the order of the lines this week, so let’s begin by introducing the Captains in the order they appeared in my section: Katelyn, Clarisse, Angela M, and Natalie.
This week’s Charger Girl of the Day is a six year veteran and four year Captain…introducing Santa Maria’s own Natalie.
The weather was warm and sunny for the first half and then the clouds rolled in during the second, which made for some challenging lighting conditions. But I was prepared and broke out the old flash gun, so that’s why there’s a spread in the lighting effects for this game. So let’s begin our regular coverage of the Charger Girls in chronological line order, starting with Katelyn’s line: Tawnie, Angela G., Brittney, Whitney, Kayla, and Karissa.
We continue with Clarisse’s line: Elizabeth, Shelbi, Dominique, Alexandra, Bridget J., and Angelica.
Up next is Angela’s line: Denise, Lindsay, Tinaiya, Anjelica, Delani, and Jayme.
We conclude this week’s coverage with Natalie’s line: Alexis, Tina, Alexa, Devin, Bridget C., and Gabrielle.
It is not often that I can shoot the Charger Girls quarter break performances because there are so many people blocking my view…but in particular, the CGs water boys. Yes, they have their own water boys to provide liquid refreshment on game days. Well they usually stand between the 5-10 yard line, right in my line of sight. But this week, the Gods must have heard my prayers…okay it was Angela M. in the Power Party, and she must have passed along my relocation request as the water boys politely moved to the goal line. As a consequence, I have these photos for you to enjoy.
I saw a number of former Charger Girls at the game on Sunday. There was Amanda (2010) and Jenny Ting, the former Laker Girl, on the sidelines serving as coordinators. And I saw 2009 Charger Girls Andrea, Belinda and top 10 all time favorite Heather. They were in my section to offer their support to the current squad, but they were ushered out of the aisle by the red shirted field security…apparently it’s a crime to stand in aisles.
Ah 2009! That was a special year…and a special squad.
