Mhkeeba Pate cheered five seasons in the NFL as a Sea Gal for the Seattle Seahawks. She cheered in Super Bowl XLVIII and XLIX and performed at over 50 home games and various community events throughout the Pacific Northwest. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her friends, watching sports and writing her first fictional novel. Mhkeeba graduated with a degree in Marketing from Georgetown University and completed her J.D. and M.B.A. from Temple University.

Brittany Corley cheered six seasons in the NFL as a Sea Gal for the Seattle Seahawks. She cheered in Super Bowl XLIX and performed at over 60 home games and various community events throughout the Pacific Northwest. In her spare time, she loves traveling to new places, trying new cuisine, cooking for her family and exploring with her puppy Mocha. Brittany graduated with a degree in Art, Media & Culture from University of Washington.

SAINTSATIONS AUDITIONS

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Saintsations, the official cheerleading team for the NFL’S New Orleans Saints! Incorporating high-energy routines with professionalism, this elite group has earned the reputation of being one of the most versatile and entertaining squads in the league. In addition to performing at NFL Saints home football games, members of the Saintsations take part in community outreach, media relations, and game day appearances. The Saintsations have traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan to visit our troops, and to Mexico City, China and London to promote the NFL. The Saintsations are comprised of well-rounded individuals who play a vital role in our mission to provide the “best” cheerleading team that represents not only the Saints, but our community throughout the world.

Applicants should be able to possess public speaking skills, extensive dance technique, showmanship, and confidence/poise in the spotlight. Ideal candidates are professional, outgoing, energetic, hardworking, and have positive attitudes. Because the Saintsations are influential role models to the youth in our communities, we will select candidates who are committed to leading a healthy, productive lifestyle. The Saintsations will have a busy and exciting year. We look forward to seeing you at the preliminary auditions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age on or by the date of preliminary auditions. NO EXCEPTIONS. Proof of age is required with a valid photo ID.
  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Recent headshot (4X6 or larger preferred). Photos will not be returned. Photos are for identification and should be a current representation of what you look like or will look like at the audition.
  • Resume including professional and dance/cheer background.

  • Attire: solid black athletic wear – leggings with black tank top preferred – jumpsuit acceptable. No shorts or midriff tops.
  • Performance ready appearance is expected. No pony-tails.
  • All candidates must be of good moral character and successfully complete all pre-employment screening. The Saints organization is a drug-free workplace. Drug test screenings will be conducted for finalists.
  • All candidates must be available for all phases of the audition process and be prepared to stay as long as necessary (no exceptions!).
  • Finalists selected at the end of the preliminary audition will advance to Finalist Training Camp. Dates and details below

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there an age limit?
You must be 18 years old by the audition date. You must present a valid photo ID.

What is the time commitment involved?
The Saintsations practices at least twice a week, usually on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, for a minimum of 3 hours per practice. Practices are held at a Metairie area location. There are 10 home games (2 preseason and 8 regular season) that usually take place on Sundays, but some Monday or Thursday evening games may be required. Promotional appearances and other booking may occur though out the year.

Saintsations do not attend away games, but are expected to perform at all home games as well as any additional home pre-season or playoff games. Should the Saints play in the Super Bowl, the team may make the trip. All members of the Saintsations Team will need to have reliable transportation to all rehearsals and performances.

What do the judges look for at auditions?
The judges are looking for individuals who are outgoing, energetic and dynamic performers. They are also looking for those who have the dance skills necessary to catch on to routines quickly and perform with precision. Ideal candidates are team players. They are well spoken, professional and hard working.

Is dance experience required?
You are not required to have any professional dance/cheer training or experience in order to audition; however those with dance training will likely have an advantage and be better prepared for the audition process. Dance ability, performance quality, and technique will be important factors determining who is selected for the team. Personality, poise, and public speaking skill will also be important factors determining who is selected for the team.

How are the Saintsations compensated?
Members are paid an hourly wage for any and all events in which they are representing the New Orleans Saints. This includes practices, games, appearances, dance clinics, photo shoots, etc.

Is there an audition fee?
There is no fee required to audition.

Does my headshot need to be professionally taken?
The headshot is simply used to identify you at auditions. It will not be returned, so a recent snapshot will be fine. It is not necessary to have a professional photo taken.

Are there any height or weight requirements?
No. All applicants must simply fulfill the minimum age requirement.

What can I do to prepare for auditions?
Beginning now, you should brush up on dance and technique skills. It is important that you are putting in the work necessary to look your best. The Audition Workshops are a great way to fully understand the audition process. You will learn requirements for being a member, opportunities that come along with the team, as well as round one audition choreography. Technical skills that may be incorporated into other choreography will also be reviewed.

Are auditions open to the public?
No. Every segment of auditions is closed to outside guests. Some rounds may be live streamed for our fans to follow along.

Do I need to bring a prepared routine to auditions?
No, you do NOT need to prepare a routine for preliminary auditions. You will be taught the routines as part of the audition process. Should you be selected as a finalist a solo may be required. Upon selection of finalists, all details on finalist training camp will be distributed to make sure you are fully informed.

The Connecticut Sun will be holding open tryouts for all three dance teams on March 16th at Mohegan Sun.

Under the direction of coordinator Rachel Pirie and managed by Claire Czerniuk, the Sun Beams, the Sunsationals and Solar Power will perform at Connecticut Sun home games throughout the season as well as appear at team events in the community.

All auditions will be held in the Earth Meeting Rooms inside the Earth Expo and Convention Center at Mohegan Sun. Anyone looking to audition should enter through the Winter parking garage and follow signs for the Expo Center main entrance.

The Sun Beams will hold auditions for energetic boys and girls between the ages of 7-15 with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Tryouts for this high-energy squad will run from 8:30 a.m. -10 a.m.

Auditions for the Sunsationals, comprised of men and women who are 50 and older, will begin with registration 11 a.m. and the audition will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Candidates for this fan-favorite team will learn and perform a short hip-hop routine, dancing in groups before a judging panel.

Auditions for the Solar Power Dance Team will round out the dance portion of the day with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. and auditions from 2:00 p.m. -3:30 p.m. Made up of male and female dancers ages 17 and up, Solar Power members have both hip hop and technical dance backgrounds and perform at every home game.

All dancers must pay a $20 non-refundable registration fee. They must also provide a non-returnable 5×7 headshot and current dance resume, and must be able to commit to all Sun home games and scheduled practices as well as community appearances, a photo shoot and other scheduled events. Dancers should wear active wear, a t-shirt and dance sneakers or tennis shoes with non-marking soles. Those who are chosen will be notified by email the following week. Results will also be posted on the Sun’s social media channels.
