Check out 2016 Buccaneer Cheerleaders here.
Crazy night last evening at Ray Jay Stadium as the Buccaneer faithful welcomed the selection of Tampa Bay native Vernon Hargreaves to the team.
The TBBC were represented by line captains Kymberli, Chelsea, Tessa and Ali. The full squad is expected to be announced next Tuesday—can’t wait.
This past Saturday I spend the day among hundreds of beautiful and talented cheer dancers down in South Florida. No time to visit the cruise ships in Port as this was a full action day.
The first and semi-finals rounds for the 2016 MDC was held on the campus of Nova Southeastern University in Ft Lauderdale. The “Bubble” also happens to be the Dolphins Training Camp facility.
A panel of seventeen judges had the pleasure to evaluate and choose the candidates deemed worthy to advance to next week’s finals. The judges take their assignment very serious and although this is a prestigious gig, establishing the cut line is not envious.
Fifty candidates were picked to go forward this week for in depth interviews and additional choreography training. The ladies will compete with the returning veterans and also against twenty impressive candidates that were previously chosen during the South America audition trips (more on that later).
Ultimate Cheerleaders will cover the “open to the public” May 1st finals. Please tune in next week for our reporting.
Finals are held in the Miniaci Theater, Nova Southeastern University, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33314. Doors open 9:00 AM, Sunday May 1st.

I had the pleasure of observing the final audition tryout for the 2016 ROAR held at Jacksonville Trans-Union Center for the Performing Arts. Every year the Jaguars present a very impressive cast of talent to select a squad of 34 young ladies for the ROAR.
Of the 54 candidates that survived to the finals, a high number of 30 were veterans of prior seasons. Rookie candidates had their work cut out for them and only 6 were able to make the final cut by the judges.
The process included two main performances. First came introductions which included technical dance moves and a quick presentation of their educational and dance experience qualifications. The ladies’ well toned physiques, dressed in revealing black bikinis, were on full display. Many hours of gym work was obvious to this photographer’s untrained eye.
The afternoon session included a fun filled talent show with singing and dancing skits. A very large variety of skills were presented. Kudos out these brave candidates, beauty and talent was on full display.
Our thanks goes out to Christy Stechman Zynda, Associate Director, for allowing Ultimate Cheerleaders to cover the inner sanctum of the ROAR audition process.
Congratulations to the 2016 ROAR, being selected as NFL Cheerleaders is an outstanding feat. Enjoy and savor the next twelve months, your hard work has paid off in obtaining a very prestigious gig.

March is crunch time for making the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Tampa Bay has some tough contests ahead so hopefully they can hold their own against the Bruins, Red Wings, etc so these beautiful Lightning Girls will continue to be in front of my camera in April/May. One of the most photogenic professional cheerleader squads in Florida.
Enjoy.

A Tampa Bay big social event every year (since 1904) is the Gasparilla Pirate Festival celebration. The annual parade and mardi gras type parties start in January and most activities culminate with the Gasparilla Distance Classic races in February. On Friday I “ran” into a couple Buccaneer Cheerleaders appearing at the Health and Fitness Expo preceding the weekend races.
Ingrid, Buccaneer wide receiver Louis Murphy and Lindsey.
Ingrid is a three year veteran and Lindsey was a rookie this year.
Here’s hoping these fan favorite beauties will be “back” for another year of cheering.
Congratulations out to the Dolphins, Jaguars and Buccaneers Pro Bowl Cheerleader picks. The common theme among these deserving ladies is beauty, talent and fan friendly personality. It was a pleasure to photograph them the last few seasons–hopefully they will send Ultimate Cheerleaders some pictures of their fun time in Hawaii.
