First some history—before I relocated to Tampa I was a life long season ticket holder for the Giants. Never saw a NFL Cheerleader during the Mara reign. Came to Tampa during the football dry spell and found myself in the front row at end of games which launched my NFL Cheerleaders Photography Life.
BACK TO THE FUTURE. Last weekend I took a trip up to NY to see the new stadiums, Yankees/Rays on Friday and Giants/Bucs on Sunday. Lo and behold I run across the Gotham City Dancers (aka NY UnOfficials) performing in the Met Life Stadium tailgate areas. These young ladies definitely fill a niche with numerous appearances in the Metro area rooting on the G-Men. They are led by founder and executive director Ana De Villegas, as well as Christie Artinger and Jack Sayegh. Ana cheered for the Washington Redskins and Christie cheered for the Jets and also as a San Diego Charger Girl. In spite of space restrictions, and music on the fly, the team performed a couple nice routines in the parking lot. They gladly posed for photos with the juniors and seniors. It was cute seeing such a diverse demographics group jockeying for their attention. Camera’s were snapping and videos recording as these women are very popular with the Giants fans.
Ana is very passionate working with the girls and her love of performing can be seen in the mission statement: “Aim to inspire and motivate young women to pursue dance and dance education. Our belief is that dance does change the world and sports entertainment is a major influence for women”. The team motto is “IT IS NOT A GAME”.
Cheers to the gals as they continue to showcase their talents to a much appreciative game-day audience. Hopefully someday we can drop the Un from their name. Enjoy the photos.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders are led by Director Cathy Boyd and Manager Melissa Fitzgerald. In their performing days Cathy was a Pro Bowl cheerleader for the Bucs and Melissa received the same honor for the Cowboys. These young women and their cheerleaders work very hard at their craft—-there is no longer an off season in the NFL organizations. Culmination of effort for the TBBC came together at the first pre-season home game against the Titans on a hot humid night in Tampa. Although I don’t have a trained artistic eye, I do know that I liked what I saw on Friday night. Synchronization during performances was excellent. Very visually impressive group of young ladies, they received a warm and appreciative response from the 45,000 plus crowd. Hopefully the stadium will be sold out and rockin’ for the September 9th opener against the Panthers. These gals represent the Buccaneers and NFL very well.
Friday’s halftime showcase featured 375 smiling junior cheerleaders performing with their role models. the Dance Mom’s rooted them on from the sideline. Impressive show considering the logistics required. The Bucs do a nice job with the young fans.
The TBBC squad consists of 34 cheerleaders split between 17 rookies and 17 vets, all successful in their chosen profession or school of study. Props go out for the many community initiatives and charity work that these ladies perform in the Tampa Bay area. Opening game seats are still available, come out and see the talented beauties of Tampa as the Buccaneers beat up the kitties from Charlotte—September 9th.

I’m not exactly a wordsmith so let me just summarize my August 10 visit to photograph the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders in one word “WOW”. This squad is impressive, the main criteria for selection must be: “Total Package Required”. The NFL is designed for teams to experience peaks and valleys on the field but the MDC, like many of their counterparts, never seem to field an average group. The 2012 lineup consists of 44 professional women evenly divided between veterans and rookies.
The Dolphins web site is fan friendly and does a nice job in showcasing the cheerleaders. A bountiful collection of photos and videos are available. At pre game about a dozen of the cheerleaders were welcoming fans outside the Sun Life gates for photo opportunities and autograph signings.
During the game when the showers arrived (and they always do) I had to decide to either whimp out and protect my equipment or keep shooting the cheerleaders dancing in the rain. FRANKLY, SCARLETT, I DON”T GIVE A DAMN about the camera. NFL cheerleaders performing in the rain— a no-brainer.
Try and get out visiting with the cheerleaders in person, in the meantime enjoy the photos and watch for the “Call Me Maybe” gals swimsuit calendar release this week.
