Flight Crew Auditions – Round One
This past weekend the Fairleigh Dickinson University Athletic Courts were the site of the 2010-11 Jets Flight Crew Auditions.
In just a few short years the Flight Crew have gone from less than a dozen flag wavers to a highly visible, in-demand, full-sized (maybe as high as 40 ladies this year) NFL Squad with regular major media appearances and a swimsuit calendar (being shot in Aruba this year).
And who is responsible for the Flight Crew’s evolution into one of the league’s top squads? Denise Garvey, a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, Knicks City Dancer and, NJ Nets Dancer, has been leading the way as the Flight Crew’s only Director in squad history.
Nearly 300 hopefuls from all across the tri-state region and beyond turned out. I noted candidates from as far away as Florida, California and Japan, and former Cheerleaders and Dancers from such teams as the Washington Redskins, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts.
Tracey and Deonna, graduates of Rutgers.
Alyssa, most recently with the NJ Devils Dancers, loosens up.
Good friend of the Blog and former Philadelphia Soulmate Christina.
On Day One the auditions consisted of hopefuls free-styling for 90 seconds before a panel of 3 judges.
Megan, who danced for the Philadelphia KiXX last season, will graduate from Villanova later this month.
Colleen was a member of the MLL Long Islands Lizards Dance Team.
Even though it’s not Jets colors, I give Adele top marks on her audition outfit.
Members of the late af2 Albany Conquest Treasures Dance Team drove down the night before, so they’d be fresh for tryouts.
You can be a 2010 HS graduate and still try out for the Flight Crew. These three young ladies are all HS Seniors and advance to Sunday’s semi-final round.
