Jazz dance team auditions
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – Saturday marked the first day of auditions for the next group of Jazz dancers.
More than 140 contestants showed up to the Jazz basketball practice center for their first day of auditions. The women said that with so many skilled dancers, the competition is intense.
This process in its own way is tougher than making the basketball team. When it comes to the dance team, there are no “returning stars”.
Dance director Meikle Lahue told ABC4 that, “Even the veteran dancers have to try out every year, so we’ve got new girls and old girls trying out today.”
Only 30 women will pass Saturday’s audition, and judges say it will get even tougher next week when they select the 17 member Jazz team.
