Washington Redskins Cheerleader Final Auditions
The State Street Theatre in Falls Church was packed on Sunday, April 3rd for the 2011-12 Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Finals. Family, friends and fans rooted on their favorites as 58 finalists danced for a chance to become a Washington Redskins Cheerleader.
Sharona (left) and Terri Lamb. Sharona, along with her Redskinnette teamate Jeannie won the original Battle of the NFL Cheerleaders competition back in 1980 on the CBS Sports Spectacular. Terri is President of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Alumni Association, the largest professional cheerleading alumni organization.
PhD Candidate Talmesha is back for her 7th season cheering in the NFL. This is her 4th season with the Redskins, after three seasons with the Ravens.
Former Wizard Girl Lindsey M is back for her second season with the WRC.
The competition began with the finalists in cocktail dresses.
Then moved on to performances....
After half the candidates had danced...the hopefuls switched gears and came out in bikinis.
And then the remaining finalists performed.
Vikhy run the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Ambassadors, in addition to being a former WRC and Wizard Girl.
Sabrina is back for another season as a Captain
(l-r) Alumni Melanie, Leeanne and Stephanie. Last time we saw Stephanie she was on the tennis court cheering on the Washington Kastles. Leeanne is still with Robert Andrews Salon, one of the WRC's biggest sponsors. Stephanie, who I didn't recognize with the blonde hair, is now a banker.
Ashley A is back for her third season.
Anita (left) and Terri Lamb. Anita cheered from 1982-86, a stint that included trips to 2 Super Bowls. She entertained us with stories from the past: In the early 80s at RFK the Redskinettes were provided a big metal container and a ladle for their drinking water.
Kristie was a Wizard Girl, a capitals Red Rocker and was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People on Capitol Hill.
Chelsea (left) and Dawn. Chelsea was the Redskins 2011 Pro Bowl Cheerleader. She's going out on top. But she'll still be busy this September, she's getting married. Congrats, Chelsea. Former Wizard Girl Dawn graduated from Pharmacy School last May and she's just finishing up her residency at Georgetown University Hospital.
Congrats to Adrianna. Most recently a Chesapeake Hawkette and Redskins Ambassador, she's been tireless in the pursuit of her dream to be one of the First Ladies of Football.
