Miami Dolphins Announced Virtual Cheerleader Auditions

Virtual Auditions Guidelines

All dates and events are subject to change in the sole discretion of the Miami Dolphins.

Requirements

  • 18 years old by May 31, 2020
  • High school graduate by June 2020
  • Able to attend all cheerleader rehearsals for the entire season
  • If selected, must live in or relocate to South Florida and have means of transportation

Rehearsals are typically Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings with an occasional Saturday afternoon rehearsal.

General Information

  • Preliminary and semifinal auditions will now be virtual auditions. All candidates must fill out the online questionnaire found here as well as submit an online video and headshot to Cheerleaders@Dolphins.com
  • We ask that you submit the questionnaire, headshot and video on the same day
  • Deadline for submissions is May 2, 2020

Guidelines for Preliminary Auditions

Round 1

Must submit online audition questionnaire, headshot and audition video by May 2nd.

We ask that you submit all three pieces on the same day to eliminate any confusion.

Videos and headshots should be labeled with your last name, underscore, first name, underscore, and either video or headshot. Ex. Smith_Jane_video

Video can be the following: YouTube Link, Vimeo Link, or iPhone video

Video must include:

  • 30 second Introduction: Name, where you are from, why you are trying out
  • 45 second improv/freestyle to song of your choice
  • 2 eight counts of straight kicks to the front

Criteria:

  • Creativity in freestyle
  • Fitness
  • Stage presence
  • Performance quality

Round 2

Everyone that auditions will receive an email by May 6th on whether or not they have made it to the 2nd round.

If selected, candidates will have next audition steps in their email. They will be required to learn 8 eight counts of choreography in a fairly quick turnaround and resubmit their new video. Keep an eye on your email so you don’t miss these instructions!

Second round learned choreography video must be submitted by Saturday, May 9th at 5:00pm, EST.

Video must include:

  • 30 second Introduction: Name, where you are from, why you are trying out
  • audition choreography and music full out
  • 2 eight counts of straight kicks to the front

Video can be the following: YouTube Link, Vimeo Link, or iPhone video

Criteria:

  • Ability to learn choreography quickly
  • Kicks
  • Fitness
  • Stage presence
  • Performance quality

Upon submission, any videos, photos or other materials shall become the property of the Miami Dolphins.

ATTIRE GUIDELINES

We want you to feel the most relaxed and yourself. Feel free to wear a comfortable dance outfit with optional dance shoes. You may go barefoot if you would prefer, for your freestyle. We do prefer dance shoes or sneakers for the kickline portion.

FINAL AUDITIONS GENERAL INFORMATION

If you make it to Finals round, you will be contacted by MDC cheer staff.

Finals round is currently still being planned to be held in person, but will be reevaluated in the upcoming weeks.

Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders Auditions Postponed!

Per the Los Angeles Rams:

Due to the evolving corona virus situation, the Los Angeles Rams Cheer Auditions and Workshops have been postponed until further notice.  We will provide an update once new dates and times are confirmed.  All workshop registration fees will be refunded by Friday, March 27th.  Thank you for your understanding.

Boston Cannons Dance Team Auditions Announced!

The Boston Cannons Dancers are a professional dance team that performs at all Boston Cannons Home Games throughout the regular season. The squad was founded in 2002, one year after the Boston Cannon’s inaugural season, making them the longest standing Major League Lacrosse dance team in history. 

Under the leadership of Director/Coach Ines Costa, the Dancers practice once a week on Monday nights for 3 hours. In addition to home games and practices, the Boston Cannons Dancers frequently appear in the community at various promotional opportunities and charity events.

Audition to become a dancer for Major League Lacrosse’s Boston Cannons!

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • high school graduate or GED
  • at least 18 years old at the time of audition
  • possess dance/cheer experience
  • be able to attend practice once a week from April-Aug 2020
  • be able to attend home games from June-Aug 2020 in Quincy, MA
  • if selected for the team, dancers must be able to attend a mandatory orientation that will take place at the Boston Cannons Main Office in Quincy on Wednesday April 15, 2020 from 6-8pm.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Check in from 12:30-1pm. The official audition process will begin promptly at 1pm and end no later than 5:30pm. Candidates will be judged on their technique, showmanship, enthusiasm, personality, personal appearance and fitness. The audition process will consist of four rounds; a short personal interview, an across-the-floor combination, a stylized jazz/pom/hip hop dance routine and an improvised solo. All music will be provided. Cuts will not be made the day of auditions. Current Dancers are expected to re-audition on a yearly basis. All dancers auditioning will be emailed regardless if they are selected for the team or not. Dancers are welcome to ask for feedback after the final team has been announced.

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • neat workout attire in the form of shorts and a sports bra
  • flesh-colored nylons or tights
  • sneakers or jazz shoes
  • makeup ‘game-day ready’ (think glam)
  • hair down and ‘game-day ready’ (no pony tails or buns).

WHAT TO BRING:

  • current 5×7 headshot (will not be returned)
  • professional resume
  • dance resume
  • pen & planner
  • warm up suit
  • plenty to drink
  • snacks and/or a lunch
  • $30 registration fee ($25 for reauditioning dancers)
