NFL Week #4 – SF 49ers Gold Rush
Though the weather at Candlestick Park last Sunday was nippy at times, it was the perfect afternoon to be a Niner fan as the San Francisco 49ers crushed the St. Louis Rams 35-0. Things looked dicey after the first half when the 49ers only led by one touchdown, but encouraging words from Coach Mike Singletary at halftime rallied the troops and revved up the engines as the 49ers went on a scoring spree in the second half on their way to a shutout win.
And of course, no San Francisco 49ers game would be complete without the Gold Rush, whose dazzling routines and awesome dance moves gave the crowd something extra to cheer about. As usual, the ladies were at their Sunday best, showing off their polished and high energy dance routines that certainly showed fans why they are they are known as the Bay Area’s premier cheerleading team.
Backing them up this week in celebration of College Week at Candlestick Park were the Stanford Dollies Cheerleading Squad, who became part of the Gold Rush squad for one quarter as they cheered & danced at the end zone, and the Sacramento State Cheerleading Team, who awed the crowd with their acrobatic skills as they performed during the two minute mark of the first quarter.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the team wore pink colored fashion jerseys during the second half paired with the white shorts they debuted last game. The team’s overall director Erin and performance director Kristin (a former Gold Rush member herself) also showed their support for the cause by wearing pink scarves and dresses throughout the day.
My pick for Gold Rush girl of the game would have to be Jasmin. She performed excellently and gave a solid, high-energy performance throughout the game. Her enthusiasm and perkiness really pumped up the crowd and left a lasting impression on the fans.
