Philadelphia Soul Name New Dance Team Choreographer
Set Soulmate Auditions for Sunday, December 12th
The Philadelphia Soul announce an open-call tryout for the 2011 Soulmate Dance Team to be held on Sunday, December 12 at Philadelphia Airport Hilton starting at 1 p.m. The team has also named Andrea Mychaels as the Soulmate Dance Team Choreographer.
Pre-registration can be done by going to www.philadelphiasoul.com. The fee will be $20 if done in advance and $25 for walk up on the day of the event.
The open-call audition registration will take place between 1-1:30 p.m. with the audition beginning promptly at 1:30 p.m. Participants must be a high school graduate, at least 18 years of age by December 12, 2010 with a valid photo ID. Participants are required to wear two-piece dance wear including a midriff top, lycra shorts, appropriate footwear and bring a full body picture and headshot.
Participants will be taught a routine and do not need to prepare their own. Experienced dancers as well as beginners are encouraged to audition. Applicants will be judged on dance ability, appearance, personality and attitude. The open-call audition will be closed to the public.
Based in the Philadelphia area, Mychaels has been immersed in the theatre and live production business as a freelance choreographer, vocalist and dancer for more than 20 years. She attended The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey earning a B.A. in Dance, and is currently on staff teaching Jazz (Broadway and Street Style), Modern and Ballet, as well as at Ovations Dance Studio in Westmont, N.J.
Her repertoire includes jazz, funk, hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, modern, tap, theatre and Las Vegas- style Review. Andrea has performed as both a dancer and a vocalist throughout the country, including Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Philadelphia, New York and Branson, MO. She has worked with Shawn T. (Hip-Hop Abs), International Award winning Neo-Burlesque Troop “The Peek-A-Boo Revue” (as seen on America’s Got Talent, season 5), New Jersey Nets Dance Team, Kathy Sledge, Taylor Dayne, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and The Trammps as well as several east coast Regional Theaters. Andrea also performs as a lead vocalist with the show band, BIG CITY, in Atlantic City.
Andrea is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Dance Education at Rutgers University.
