Get to Know the 2009 Jacksonville Axe Maidens – Bryn
Hard work and dedication begins from the moment a woman decides to audition for a team to their first time on the field in front of fans and beyond. In the end, it all comes together and the experiences are worth all the hard work and dedication.
Axe Maiden, Bryn, shares her experience:
Tryouts are the most nerve – racking time for any aspiring cheerleader. You have so many feelings all hitting you at one time – excitement, anxiety, confidence, and happiness. Then, when you hear that your number is called – or in my case, you don’t hear that your number is called and someone else comes chasing you down to tell you -it feels like everything has finally come together. It becomes real!
But I could only describe my experience on the Axe Maidens as UNREAL!
I sometimes still can’t believe I’m on a semi-professional cheerleading team. Being a rookie can be a little scary, but all the girls have made my first year so great by being so warm and welcoming. I feel so lucky to have such amazing women in my life. When we’re all together doing what we love to do it makes practices so much fun, and the icing on the cake is that we all get together to get ready for the big event…game day!
The first game brought about the same feelings as tryouts all over
Again – excitement, anxiety, confidence, and happiness. It was such a great feeling getting to perform in front of a crowd again. I couldn’t replace that feeling with anything. If anyone asked me what it’s like to be a cheerleader, I would tell them to imagine hard work, hair flying, big smiles and lots of fun. Cheering can be a tough job, but we love to do it!~ Bryn, 2009 Jacksonville Axe Maidens
