The 2018 season is still 31 days away, but it’s already shaping up to be a historic one. For the first time in NFL history, there will be male cheerleaders on the sidelines.

Napoleon Jinnies and Quinton Peron will be cheering on the Rams cheerleading squad. The Saints will have a male cheerleader on their cheer team, too. Jesse Hernandez, a 25-year-old male dancer who made the Saintsations, said he was inspired by Peron and Jinnies.

“My mom had sent me a link about the L.A. Rams cheerleaders that just had made the team a couple weeks ago,” Hernandez told KATC in April. “She told me that it was my time to shine.”

Cheerleading has been a part of the NFL since 1954 when the Baltimore Colts added a cheer squad to their marching band. Today, 26 of the 32 teams in the NFL have official cheerleading squads.

More NFL preseason photos, this time from Denver, Colorado.  This week’s contest pitted the Minnesota Vikings, a preseason favorite to make it to the Super Bowl, and the hometown Denver Broncos.  It was a rather exciting contest where both teams scored 70 points…unfortunately, the Vikings scored 42 of them.  But hey, it’s only preseason.  At least we NFL fantasy football fans got a chance to see Broncos rookie running back Royce Freeman play and that got me excited.  Another thing that got me excited…the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders!

NFL Preseason Week 1 bore witness to one of the classic NFL rivalries, a battle between the two multiple Super Bowl winning franchises: the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers.  These two franchises had fought titanic battles on their way to post season glory, including seven playoff games.  But alas, preseason is not postseason, but this game still had a lot going for it…namely the 49ers Gold Rush cheerleaders!

Week 1 of the NFL Preseason saw the Baltimore Ravens absolutely destroy the Los Angeles Rams in a game that was essentially meaningless.  What was not meaningless was the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders.  Click here to view to see a gallery of images from the game.

Our coverage of the NFL Preseason Week 1 continues with some photos of the ROAR of the Jaguars. Click here to view the Jacksonville Jaguars game day gallery.

Congratulations to the 2018-2019 Washington Wizards Dancers. They’ve got an exciting new look this year with several male dancers in the mix. Check them out.
