Eleven current and former Professional Cheerleaders with science-related careers came together at the US Science & Engineering Festival this past weekend to help gets folks interested and excited about science.

The Science Cheerleaders are the brainchild of former Philadelphia Sixers Dancer Darlene Cavalier.

Darlene founded ScienceCheerleader.com and its sister site ScienceforCitizens.net with the goal of getting people excited about and involved with science. She’s also a contributor to Discover Magazine and a mother of four.

How did eleven Pro Cheerleaders and Dancers from across the country put together a smashing performance? Two words: Laura Eilers!

Laura designed the choreography and then distributed it online to the Cheerleaders. Then Friday evening, with the Cheerleaders all in DC, they came together to rehearse their performance, go over their lines and be fitted for their uniforms. Laura also acted as the DJ for the dance performances and conducted a cheer clinic for young girls.

Thanks, James! We were psyched to meet you in person. Terrific and much appreciated news piece here…thank you! See you at the next Science Cheerleader event!
