The 2012 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in Oxnard, California

The Dallas Cowboys have come home to California for training camp…Oxnard, California to be precise.  With sunny 70 degree weather and a crisp ocean breeze, one can imagine why the Dallas Cowboys flew half way across the country to train for the upcoming season in the Golden State.  And as fortune would have it, they brought along the “often imitated, never equaled” Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for Opening Day.

In years past, the opening of training camp was during the weekend and the DCC performed all weekend long in Oxnard, but this year training camp opened on a Monday and that meant fans only had one, brief opportunity to see the DCC perform in all their splendor.  But as I have said in the past, if you get a chance to see the DCC, you should because they are an amazing site to behold.  They are truly an icon of professional cheerleading and wonderful to see in person.

So, here are a few photos that I took yesterday.  Now be forewarned…because of my proximity to the stage, I really only got photos of three of them while dancing, Cassie Trammell, Lauren Williams and Whitney Isleib, who was so close that she hit me with her pom poms.  So close that my 24mm wide angle lens was not wide enough to capture her when she was out front.  But beggars can’t be choosers, so here we go.

Here’s a photo of Jackie Bob, who used to be a 49ers Gold Rush cheerleader.

Of course the highlight of the DCC performance was the kick line that leads into their signature move, the jump split.  But because we have a silly no high kick rule here at UltimateCheerleaders, we cannot show you the most spectacular part of their performance.  (Can you imagine not being able to show the Rockettes’ kick line?).  So here’s what I can show you.

I always enjoy watching the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders perform, even if it is for only one dance.  They are an amazing group of young women and very impressive performers.  As a matter of fact, three of the DCC (Mia, Cassie, and Lauren) sang the national anthem and they were great.  They are a must see.

So, if you get a chance to see them in person, you should.  And if they come to Oxnard for training camp, you should come on out and see them…and I was glad I did.  I only wish they would stick around and do a few more performances because we hardly ever get to see them out here…in California.
