Ultimate Cheerleaders

The 2013 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at Training Camp in Oxnard, California

The Dallas Cowboys are holding training camp in Oxnard, California once again and as usual, they brought the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders to help celebrate the opening of another season of football.  And I was there to capture all the action for UltimateCheerleaders.com

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are the most renown and famous squad in all of professional cheerleading.  They are the ultimate cheerleaders.  And they were once again in my part of the country to add a little glamor to the opening ceremonies of the 2013 Dallas Cowboys training camp.

I arrived a little after 1:30 pm and quickly made my way over to Building 16 of the River Ridge complex to pick up my photo credential.  Opening Ceremonies were scheduled to begin around 3:00 pm, but I wanted to get there early to check out the area.  I made my way through the labyrinthian network of gates to get to the field where there was a dais set up near the center of one of the practice fields.  Shortly thereafter I heard a huge roar from the crowd.  I thought that perhaps the DCC had arrived early, but in fact it was the arrival of the biggest Cowboys cheerleader…owner Jerry Jones.

Now if you thought the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were rock stars, you haven’t seen Jerry Jones work a crowd.  He patiently walked the length of the fence line to sign autographs and chat with the adoring Cowboys fans.  In professional football, this dude IS a rock star and he built the most lavish palace for pigskin, the $1.15 billion Cowboys Stadium.

At 3:00 pm, the ceremonies began with the arrival of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders who performed the first of two spirited routines.

Of course DCC Director Kelli Finglass and DCC Choreographer Judy Trammell, rock stars in their own right, were there to provide the girls with some last minute instruction.

And with that, Opening Ceremonies began with their first performance which included their famous kick line.

After the DCC kicked off Opening Ceremonies, various city dignitaries were introduced.  Oxnard’s Mayor presented Jerry Jones with a gift and he addressed the crowd with the usual pleasantries about the Cowboys long history in California.

Upon the conclusion of the official pronouncements, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders took to the field again for one final performance.

After their on field performances, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders took a few minutes to freshen up and then returned to the midway area to sign mini posters.  Now the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are rock stars as evidenced by the huge line for their autographs and their fans ran the gamut from young girls to lecherous old men…just kidding.

I don’t know if the Dallas Cowboys will be back in Oxnard for future training camps, but if the bring the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders with them…I’ll be there!

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders…often imitated, never equaled.
